Too bad nobody thought of this earlier. For the money, it's cheap insurance that you won't drop a chain when shifting.

This little gadget does its job - on the few occasions I have shipped on my MTB it's kept the chain accessible instead of the usual rummaging around between the rings and the frame. Well worth the price.

I'm sure more expensive ones do work better in extreme conditions, but these are really meant to be a last ditch safeguard and I honestly don't think expecting more from this type of device is rational.
