My Thoughts: Another great wonderful take my breath away book. I just love these romance books and I keep finding ones that satisfy my hunger for romance. This book did just that. Cody is the guy everyone wants, his the popular, never would give me the time of day type of guy. And yet the main girl Jolie who reminds me of myself in a lot of ways goes after him even though she believes its worthless and pointless! She's a honky tonk girl who isn't into designer clothes and fancy cars while he has those things and is the town's number one bachelor. She is clumsy and shy but has enough courage to push him into the swimming pool. This book gives you that heartfelt feeling plus makes you want to burst out laughing! I have read a few other LuAnn McLane books and she is just wonderful! They are light but a lot of fun to read. This one kept me up late and night wanting to know what happens. Does Jolie end up with Cody or his super cute brother who she spends time with discussing and analyzing Cody! I definately recommend this book, its one to read in bed with a cup of hot chocolate or down at the beach getting a tan! A Must Read if you enjoy romance books! (Reviewed by Princess Bookie)

This book was a lot of fun. If you are a Southern girl at heart, and are looking for something good to read, I suggest you put a rush on your order!
It is laugh out loud funny and absolutely ridonculous! If you are looking for something to read while sitting in a library, this might not be a good choice for you, unless you really don't care if you disturb your neighbors and are asked to leave the premises. Overall, it was a great book, with just enough "sugar and spice"! If you have ever read any other books of LuAnn's and loved them, you won't be disappointed.

Redneck Cinderella,
This review is from: Redneck Cinderella (Signet Eclipse) (Kindle Edition)
When Dean Development makes an offer on the farm, so to speak, Jolie Russell talks her father into accepting the offer. He does. On the condition that they will have a house in the new housing development. Widower Wyatt Russell refuses to leave the land where he spent so many years with his wife. Arrangements made, house built, life is fine. Or is it?
Jolie and her father just don't really fit in with the social class that lives in the houses around her. She has a serious lack of social skills but after yet another disaster, Jolie gets some help from Brett Dean, who suggests that one, his brother Cody has a thing for her and two, he can arrange for an etiquette coach to help her overcome her lack of social skills. She'd like to believe the first suggestion but she really needs the second suggestion to even have a chance with Cody. Enter Miss Abigail. Like an advancing army, this unlikely fairy godmother, begins to whip Jolie into shape. It is important to Jolie to be a part of Cody's world and she wants to be the kind of woman he needs for his place in society. Jolie is falling for Cody hard and fast. In the moment of truth can she fit in? Does she want to? This is Cody's life and she doesn't want to change. She is who she is. And it's time to show the world. Who cares about fitting in? Jolie wants to stand out. Humor and emotion work together in LuAnn McLane's Redneck Cinderella to keep you reading. The characters are amazing. All of them are well developed and I felt like I knew them as I read. From Jolie and her father, Wyatt to Jolie's best friend Carletta and etiquette coach Abigail to Cody and Brett Dean, I loved them all. Even Jolie's rival for Cody's affections was memorable. From rags to riches, Jolie fights to keep herself while Cody fights to win her. Jolie is Cody's Redneck Cinderella. All that's missing is the pumpkin. It's a keeper. Redneck Cinderella was a great fun story to read!! This story really reminds me of my awkwardness when I started to date. I actually grew up on a dairy farm in Kentucky and was a total tomboy and didn't dress up and go to parties.(Ya can take the girl out of the Country, but ya can't take the Country out of the girl)..
LuAnn McLanes books allows me to escape the everyday stress and "takes me away" from it all. Luanns stories usually show that Love can overcome even the biggest obstacles. I Highly Recommend It!!!!!

This is a great book and an easy read, I finished it a little less then 2 days I just couldn't put it down. The contrast in characters from 'redneck' to 'ritzy' had me cracking up lauging threw most of the book. Joile and Cody are a great pair and Joile's father and her friends along the way are perfect contrats! Amazing book! This was my first book I have read from LuAnn Mclane but now I can't wait to read her other books as well!

Yes, the ending may be have been predictable, but getting there was sure fun! The characters all had lots of heart, the humor could be found on every page, and the story itself was just plain fun. Great story for a summer's afternoon.

Jolie Russell family has sold their land for millions and now they have gone from farmers to living life as one of the elite. Jolie doesn't know how to fit in and has purpose in her life. She has always had a crush on Cody Dean the local rich family. As Jolie search to find her place in this new world she falls deeper for Cody. A cute Cinderella-ish story.

A fast, fun read!,

LuAnn McLane gives us a fun loving, humorous look at life when country folk meet big city living that I simply adored!
Jolie Russell and her father are country farmers, through and through and never dreamed they would be thrust into the life of the rich and snobby. But when developer Cody Dean, a long time crush of Jolie's, comes back into their lives and makes an offer on the farm too good to pass, up that is exactly what happens. From down home farmers to living in a ritzy, gated community, Jolie and her father are way out of their league when it comes to fitting into the neighborhood. Whoever thought it could cause such an uproar when she and her father were simply trying to keep their lives as normal as possible. Well normal for them. Brett Dean, brother to Cody Dean, and friend to Jolie, suggests etiquette lessons for the two to help them fit in better. Cody Dean has always believed in the good things in life, doing what is expected, and especially fitting in. What he can't understand is why he is so attracted to Jolie Russell. She is different from anyone he has ever known and he's not real sure he likes the idea of being drawn to her. Redneck Cinderella is a wonderful story of two lifestyles colliding and learning that sometimes, things aren't what you expect. Love can overcome even the biggest obstacles. A fast, run read, LuAnn McLane's books always bring a smile to my face. I highly recommend it.

fun frolic,
This review is from: Redneck Cinderella (Signet Eclipse) (Mass Market Paperback)
By selling their suddenly choice property to developer Cody Dean, Jolie Russell and her widow dad have become millionaires. With Cody's help they buy a new home in affluent Cooper Creek Estates. However, their country club neighbors scorn the nouveau riche father and daughter as something less than pond scum.
Jolie sets a goal for herself to attend the Cottonwood Ball without embarrassing herself. Cody's younger brother Brett offers to help prepare her; he also suggests she obtain speech lessons and etiquette training. As the redneck tries to become sophisticated she realizes she has fallen in love with debonair Cody. However, she also assumes he can have any woman he wants so would never settle for one with dirt between her toes. REDNECK CINDERELLA is a combination Beverly Hillbillies and Debbie Reynolds' Tammy starring a likable heroine who feels like a fish out of water as a country bumpkin amongst urban sophisticates. The lighthearted story line is amusing as Jolie tries to fit in while her dad only makes a half-hearted effort for her sake. The key to this fun frolic is no one is Cruella de Ville though their class differences make Jolie feel doltish, but as Ms. Reynolds sang in Tammy: "Whippoorwill, whippoorwill, you and I know" Jolie's in love. Redneck Cinderella by LuAnn McLane is a charming southern fried tale that will keeping you laughing.
Jolie Russell has always enjoyed working the tobacco farm with her widowed father. Seems their land is entangled to a land development deal by Dean Development. Jolie and her dad Wyatt agree to a multi million dollar deal offered by Cody Dean. A year later Jolie and her dad are living in the Copper Creek Estates trying to live by the home owners rules. This is tough for a living large down home girl like Jolie. Jolie agrees to undergo a makeover of sorts with her dad to fit in more with her high class neighbors. Will al her good intentions Jolie can't leave the southern girl behind. Helping her along the way is hottie Cody Dean. Jolie can't get thoughts of Cody out of her mind. She is afraid that Cody will only like the remade woman not the true grit girl she really is deep down. Redneck Cinderella is a down home feel good book. It's witty, sexy and full of sass. Every character is a treat to get to know. Jolie and Cody are opposites that bring out the best in each other. LuAnn McLane really has captured the flavor of the southern gal and her friends. She is a must buy author for me and can't wait to read the next book. |
