Though I am usually not a fan of poetry, this book is written from a space of deep listening and lucid clarity. There is something very honest in every word here, and that integrity is both moving and transforming. Open it at random and you will surely find exactly what you need to hear at that moment. If you enjoyed The Book of Awakening, you will also love this one.

I bought this book, because I like Mark Nepo's writing. It is his poetry, which, like his books, is both sparse but descriptive. He writes about the human condition so everyone can relate to these poems. I found it best to read a few at a time..go back and read some of them
again and read a few new ones...It is a book to savor...not devour.

Mark Nepo's poetry is beautiful in it's simplicity. These poems are a perfect accompaniment to those of us who are striving to live a more mindful, present life. Mark reminds me to look around and pay attention to the life which is unfolding each moment. I am so grateful to have discovered Mark's poetry and his day books (The Book of Awakenings is a favorite). With Gratitude, MA

Nepo has a gift for insightful visioning of life and a great capacity for elegantly expressing the movements of life. We read passages over dinner and often at bed time. At dinner, his words are part of the feast, and at bedtime, they bless the night and sleep.

I read and re-read this book filled with heartfelt poems. Mark Nepo has captured my attention and often touches my soul. He is in my head. This is the first book of poetry that rocks my world. I cannot imagine caring for my soul without Mark Nepo as my friend and guide.

Simple and deep poetry. It made me stop, reflect, and find a center of peace. I will read it and reread it and reread it.

Sorry, I have the book, not the kindle edition...Reduced to Joy by Mark Nepo I am not much into poetry but I found several of Nepo's to be something I can relate to and enjoy. `Feeling the Oar,' about his father's hands, reminded me of my mother's hands as I helped take care of her as Alzheimer's took her life. `Running the Table,' a story of his uncles, reminds me of my childhood with my aunts and uncles. `Between the City and the Sea' and `The Throat of Dawn' are about all kinds of things happening at the same time around world, really good and thought provoking.

I have never read Mark Nepo's work before.
In 'Transformation' which begins with 'It could be the letter never answered' or in the eponymous poem - 'We never know when we will blossom into what we're supposed to be. It might be early. It might be late ..', its like the Russian Roulette - Joy can hit you any time. The joy of being human. A person in any walk of life can relate to the poems. There's spirit, love, bliss - Top human needs.
Our planet, needs this book to Calm.
