1.0 out of 5 stars Fails to deliver.....
In one word this video is horrible! I felt like I was trapped in a cross between the movie, The Running Man and Janet Jackson's Rhythm Nation music video. Furthermore, the voice over is awful, there is NO enthusiasm in it.

Pass on this on - trust me you'll be glad you did!

After her original step workout, this one is my favorite. Other favorites are the Circuit Challenge (nice versatility and change from normal step routine), Intense Moves (which I just purchased and is a little hard for me just yet), and Aerostep (which is a good length and easier on the knees than this one). I love the versatility of having so many of Gin's tapes!

4.0 out of 5 stars Easier Than Expected, February 28, 2003

This review is from: Reebok Power Workout [VHS] (VHS Tape)
This is the 7th Reebok Step video I've purchased. I put these in three categories: 1. Easier, lighter workout (Aerostep and The Video), 2. Intermediate, more varied or faster paced (The Best of TV, Circuit Challenge), and 3. Advanced (Extreme and Intense Moves). I thought Power would be in the advanced category, really pushing the viewer to the limit. Actually, it is easier than I expected. It has the same background as The Video, with the lights shining through a metal grid floor and Gin Miller giving instructions on a monitor, but it, of course, adds hops, runs, and leaps to the basic moves. Unlike The Video, this workout puts together one long combination that is repeated to the end. I prefer those workouts where you learn a combination, master it, and leave it behind to move on to something else, but, still, it is a great intermediate workout. You use your quads a lot more in this video than in others. There are tons of jumping squats throughout the workout. Another thing that surprised me is that this workout is only 41 minutes long! That includes warmup and cool down. There is no abdominal or upper body work at the end. It is the shortest Reebok step video I have. It had the makings of a killer video, but it's actually at a lighter intermediate level which is either a disappointment or a relief (depending on the person). Beginners should try The Video (the most basic with some energetic lunging in the last step combination), or Aerostep (trickier choreography but very low key with nothing exerting). Those who want a challenge--Get Intense Moves!

Gin Miller is an awesome aerobic instructor. And this is one of my favorite tapes for a tough workout, though it's not very long. Afterwards, I always feel 10 pounds lighter (don't I wish!). It does a number on your legs. The original step is still the best, but once you are past it, there is no going back. This is a great 2nd in a whole line of great step tapes.

4.0 out of 5 stars Get ready to sweat!, February 27, 2002

I am addicted to Step Reebok videos. All other step routines seem boring or a waste of time compared to these. This video, inparticular, is a challenge. It will improve your cardiovascular capability, and get your legs in superb shape with ample lunges and squats. Also, the music is upbeat, and keeps you going. This video would be perfect if it included an ab and arm section at the end. Still, it's an excellent workout.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great Way to Learn Step!, September 1, 2003

Both "Step Reebok: The Video" and this video are excellent introductions to step. I taught high impact aerobics for 12 years, and had stopped instructing for several years when step came on the scene. It was a bit intimidating, because I'm not a "dancy" person; I'd rather do uncomplicated moves so I can spend more time working up a sweat than being frustrated at my lack of coordination! Gin Miller is an excellent instructor, and her cueing is right on (a big improvement over "Aerostep"). I work out at 4:30 in the morning, so I don't want to have to think much...I just want to GO! Although the workout could be longer, I supplement it with my own weight workout and ab routine afterwards. The only disconcerting thing about this video is that Linda Sobek is one of the team members; for those of you who remember, she was a professional football cheerleader who was raped and murdered several years ago. It was so pointless and sad. The video is well done and easy to follow, and I highly recommend it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Better eat your Wheaties..., November 1, 2002
This review is from: Reebok Power Workout [VHS] (VHS Tape)
...because you'll need lots of energy for this video. It provides an excellent cardiovascular workout, it challenges me everytime I do it, and does that without alot of difficult choreography. You'll learn the moves after only 1 or 2 viewings, and the cuing is great--I hardly have to look at the tv when I'm doing this one. I had a problem initially with all the jump-squat-jumps, which gets to the knees after a while, but now that my legs are stronger (from this and other videos) it's no longer an issue. The music is pumpin' and the exercise team is full of energy. Great video!
