Quality product, but should be bundled with a DVD,
By Don't spend $80 trying two or three other steps, only to find them lacking and then have to spend even more money on yet another step -- start this one and be happy. Mine came with a VHS tape containing an overview of the basic moves performed during a step workwork along with an actual workout. The audio quality of tape is poor and the camera angle changes too frequently to be able to watch any one person performing the moves. This makes it difficult when first performing the workout, but it does get easier after a few attempts. Still, it would have been nice to have a DVD included instead of a tape. Now that we've entered the 21st century, I think more people own DVD players than VHS players. The sound quality probably wouldn't be an issue on a DVD and it would make it easier for beginners to skip to the end (where the section on how to perform the basic steps exists) rather than fast forwarding and rewinding all the time. I would therefore recommend picking up a step workout on DVD along with this product. The tape also makes reference to a booklet that is presumably included, but mine didn't include a booklet. Not sure if they stopped including a booklet but didn't change their tape or not. I thought about giving a 4 rating instead of 5 because of the poor quality tape and the apparent lack of a booklet, but the step itself is worth the 5 star rating and I didn't want to detract from that fact.

The Good The Bad and The Questionable,
By THE BEST PART OF IT IS: 1. It's very durable, I expect to have this forever. 2. It's sturdy and well built. This baby stays exactly where you lay it down. 3. It is wide enough to allow the user to move freely. THE WORST PART: 1. Putting it together was a B&TCH. 2. It has four (I'll call them tabs) which took two days for me to figure out how to pull them out, if I should pull them out and what would happen when I did pull it out. 3. Well there were no directions on the website or the box or the Video on how to assemble it so I just took a chance and a pair of scissors and screw driver and pulled them out (black tabs) and adjusted the height for the Stepper and put them back in. 5. Now every time I want to change height I will have to do the same thing. Whose bright idea was this? Over all great equipment, worth the money[...].

Solid and Stable good for very overweight exercisers,
I recently purchased one of these at a local store and I was happy to find when I opened it it has a 350 lb. weight limit. I used to do step aerobics religiously when I was younger and now that I have made it through graduate school I have a large amount of weight to lose. I have tried the reebok step deck and it bows when you step on it. My old stepper I beleive was only rated for 200 lbs or less. I am at the 250 mark (yikes!) and I am looking forward to going back to my old Reebok Aero-step and Reebok the Power Workout videos. If you are like me and are trying to get back into shape and need a step that can support more weight, get this step. It is the only one I have found on the market that can support such weight. You will not be disappointed.

I'd been thinking about getting a step for a while, but hesitated because nearly every step I looked at seemed poorly built and expensive for what you got. Also, I am not a petite person. With size 12 shoes and weighing around 200 pounds, the weight limits on most of the steps had me wondering. I am so happy I bought this step!
It's large enough that there is plenty of room in every direction for any type of movement, even with my big feet. It is sturdy. I have not heard a creak or felt any give that shouldn't be there, no matter how hard I step on it (normally the goal is to step lightly, of course, but once in a while a mistep may come down reasonably hard). It has not even hinted at tipping or flipping, even when I'm working right on the edge of the step for stretching and such. It has a non-slip surface on top and non-slip feet on the bottom and just the right amount of cushion. Mine came with a DVD, but I normally use it with my Denise Austin workouts. It really does boost your heartrate, even at the lowest level. I've got bad knees, so I need a low impact workout that does not beat up my joints and using the step fits the bill. Well worth the money.

I'm not sure what was so challenging for some of the other reviewers here when they were trying to figure out how to adjust the height on this step system. Pops apart and back together in several different configurations for me with little problem - just apply a little upper body strength and presto!
This step system is expensive, but worth the cost. Why? Cheaper products slip and slide and wobble when you get into a vigorous workout. This step system doesn't. If I suddenly flop off the step because it flips while I'm stepping up or down, and I break an ankle or drop a 20 pound dumbbell on my head then a cheaper product has already cost me a lot more in medical bills than I might have saved buying a "wobbly." Sometimes it's better to pay up front. Choosing the right step system is one of those times. This step system is rock solid on a mat, tile or carpet. It adjusts to all the positions I need, and I'm pleased with my purchase.

Reebok Step,
I love this step. I first used it at a womens club and when they closed I bought one to use at home. I love how easy it is to adjust and it is very stable. You can even lay on the bench to do some more difficult reverse crunches. It is a great addition to my home gym.

Don't bother with any other type of step,
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
Don't do what I did and buy cheap step benches from the big box stores. They aren't nearly as stable as this one (I've tried two other types). You'll run the risk of tipping the bench and twisting your ankle or worse. This bench is heavy, secure, and has a really good non-skid surface. Also, it's longer than the benches for sale in the stores. The extra length makes for a slightly harder workout. The Reebok bench baffled me too when I tried to adjust the height. But my husband took one look at it and just gave the feet a good hard yank to pop them out of their holders. It just takes some strength and fearlessness! The feet popped into their new positions rather easily. As a bonus, a step DVD came with the bench. It's an old Gin Miller DVD from the early 90s (or late 80s perhaps). The production style is certainly dated, but the workout is still a good one. Nice to add to one's collection.

This review is from: Reebok Adjustable Platform System (Sports)
I love it! This is the third step I've owned, and it is definitely the best--nicer, even, than the ones you typically see in gyms. It is very stable, with a wide surface area that features rubbery grip. It is easy to alter the height of the step to accomodate a more advanced stepper. The risers can even be set "unevenly," turning the step into an incline bench. my husband, who chided my for spending so much money, now regularly uses this step to do incline press and abs. The Gin Miller video that comes with the step is a little boring (I purchased a few other videos to liven up my routine), but it provides an adequate workout. Well worth the money!
