4.0 out of 5 stars Works Fine - After A Little Work
In summary: The machine is solid, smooth and provides a great workout - I like the installed programs and i-fit features. Pay someone to put this together if you are not a serious do-it-yourselfer. 1.0 out of 5 stars Don't get anything from this company
I bought this machine in August and the incline feature has NEVER worked correctly. Customer service is very hard to get ahold of, with long wait times each time you call. The incline is supposed to go from 10 degrees to 30 degrees at the touch of a button, however mine does not have the range it is supposed to. It moves maybe 10% of that distance, all on the top side of...

In summary: The machine is solid, smooth and provides a great workout - I like the installed programs and i-fit features. Pay someone to put this together if you are not a serious do-it-yourselfer. The instructions are inadequately supported with troubleshooting advice should you have a problem and the assembly diagrams are not very clear on some details. Look on the website if you run into trouble!

If you are a do-it-yourselfer like me, this will take about 2 or 3 hours to unpack and assemble. It went together fine for me but I experienced a similar problem as the other reviewer - the panel beeped after a few seconds and then shut down. After reading the instructions (it helps to do this) I noticed that the panel shuts down automatically after you stop exercising. A little logic suggests the panel was not receiving a signal from a sensor somewhere that detects motion. Having owned a Nordic Track in the past, I knew this sensor was probably located on a flywheel somewhere... A quick trip to the reebok website and I found a solution in the troubleshooting section - the "reed sensor", located on the flywheel, needed adjustment or was defective. After removing the covers over the flywheel at the back of the machine (just a few screws) I located and adjusted this sensor but the panel still beeped and shut down after a few seconds. Undaunted, I traced the wire from the sensor and found that it was not plugged in to the computer/circuit board - there is not a good positive connection for this wire and it probably came loose during final assembly or shipping - certainly a defective design or part! Anyway, everything works fine now and we are very happy and sweaty. This little excursion in troubleshooting added another 2 or 3 hours to the assembly. I give the machine 5 stars but the assembly and troubleshooting I give 3 stars. (I have seen much worse...)

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Machine!, November 5, 2005
I have this elliptical and love it! It did take my husband 2-3 hours to put it together...but no weird beeping like the other reviewers. It works perfectly, extremely smooth, and very quiet. I had tested probably a dozen ellipticals before buying this one and none of the others could match the stability or more natural feeling stride that this elliptical provides. I highly recommend this elliptical!

I bought this machine in August and the incline feature has NEVER worked correctly. Customer service is very hard to get ahold of, with long wait times each time you call. The incline is supposed to go from 10 degrees to 30 degrees at the touch of a button, however mine does not have the range it is supposed to. It moves maybe 10% of that distance, all on the top side of it, so it is set very high. Calibration has not remedied the problem. They tried sending me a new console which did not fix it. Then they sent me a new incline motor and I had to call multiple times before finally they would agree to refer me to a service technician rather than make me do the repairs. This took over a month due to slow delivery of parts and a busy schedule of the technician. He replaced all parts pertaining to this function and it still does not work right; it did not improve the situation at all. I have asked for them to replace my machine and they still think it is a repairable problem. If it started doing this due to wear I would understand, but it has NEVER worked right! So, again I wait. I have been trying to get this fixed for 3 months and will keep trying I guess. If you do decide to go ahead and buy any product made by Icon Fitness (Reebok, Nordic Track, ProForm, etc), be sure and buy the extended warranty because you will need it.

4.0 out of 5 stars I love this machine, October 30, 2006
I got this at a discount warehouse that sells Costco and Bj's overstock/returns etc. I paid a very fair price for it and am very, very happy.
The machine feels solid and is fairly smooth. I did have a bit of squeaking that was a result of the plastic covers on the foot axle rubbing on the right incline wheel. It was easily fixed by wiggling the plastic pieces back together.
Be careful when assembling this unit. Whoever put the wheels on the machine used the wrong one on the left side. There are wheels on the base to help move the unit around. These wheels are different than the wheels on the exerciser (they have bushings that the lower wheels do not have) and the mistake caused the left side to clunk around a lot. This problem was immediatily fixed when the wheels were put in their proper places.
I am a big person and loved the precor efx at the gym. I have held off on buying a home elliptical because I could not find a unit that felt as hefty, sturdy and with the range of motion that the gym models have. When I tried the reebok rl 900 I just loved it immediately. The stance is wide enough, the foot pedals are big enough and the range of motion feels round enough.
The fans are useless to me. I am 5'6" and it blows over my head.
The pulse monitor is never accurate, if it reads at all, but I don't really care so much about that feature.
It is also extrememly heavy. This was a bonus to me-since I want a durable machine

I definately recommed this model to anyone as long as they are mechanically inclined to put it together properly.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fabulous machine, February 3, 2007
This review is from: Reebok RL 900 Elliptical Trainer (Sports)
I have used several machines, and i love this one. it has an incline, resistance, programs, pulse monitor, fan...it has it all. it is very much like a gym quality machine. i've had it for 2 years, and am so glad i sent with this one. it may help to go to a store and try it out before buying, but with regular use, your body will probably adjust to any machine you buy.

2.0 out of 5 stars $90 to have a repairman LOOK at it., September 18, 2011

Get one with more than a one year warranty on parts AND buy an extended warranty because you can't get a repairman to come to your house for less than $90. And then, if it needs parts, he's got to come back again!
I didn't. At first the machine was fine. It squeeked, but if you kept your headphones on it was ok.
But after three years it ground to a halt. Little did i know that you need special tools (expensive ... impossible to buy) and a repair manual (also impossible to get unless you take the $1000 repair course) to fix it yourself. You can't even get the cover off without special tools.
It looked to me like the bearing went bad, but then i realized the assembly that held the bearing had unscrewed itself off. Multiple trips to Lowes and the internet convinced me that only with a special tool could i get the assembly back on.
So i compared the risk of paying $90 to a guy who might tell me i need another $90 in labor and $100 in parts to repair a machine that is three years old to the cost of a new machine.
Guess which one i took.
