Workout No, Sitting Yes,
This review is from: Reebok Strapless Silver Heart Rate Monitor Watch (Silver) (Sports)
Don't waste your money unless your workout is sitting on the couch. This monitor is sold as "providing unobtrusive reading of your heart rate during your workout". Since you have to stand still to get an accurate reading one has to wonder what type of workout Reebok did to substantiate this claim. Get a strapped monitor for working out. While this is a great idea the design doesn't match the intended purpose.

I am a cardiac patient and was not able to wear a strap for some time. This watch is good for those who can not wear a strap. I used this watch when I was only allowed to walk and not do any strenuous exercise. And the watch worked very well for me. Now that I am fully recovered I use a heart monitor with a strap because of my increased activity. I now use this watch when I go to work and I check my heart rate while I am using the stairs instead of the elevator, or if I am doing a brisk walk during my lunch break. It is very simple to use.

This product was dificult to get a heart rate reading on unless you are walking, would not give a heart rate even at low running speeds. I used this product 4 times and both heart monitor buttons fell off.

I disagree with the previous reviewer. If you want a truly accurate reading while doing exercise you need to have a model with a strap. A strapless model requires you to stop the activity and read the results. The Reebok Silver is a great value and does what it is supposed to. The instructions are quite clear and if you follow them you will get an accurate reading. I am very satisfied.

If you hate having to put on a strap and constantly adjust it, then this is the product for you!As some have already noted it does require you to pause for a few seconds to get a good reading. But, I've been doing a ton of exersice videos and sports like basketball and soccer which always give me a few seconds of pause to take a reading. It gives a great read out of the amount of time you have exercised and total calories burned. I found that adjusting the wrist band about one notch tighter than I might wear a normal watch was helpful in getting good contact with the skin for a quick results. With the exercise videos it is very easy to remember to take regular readings. But with other sports it might be more difficult. One con to the strapless technology is that there is no constant reading, which could set off an alarm to notify you when your heart rate is above or below the desired zone. It only alerts you when you take the reading. The chest strap technology does provide an advantage in that area, if the feature comes with your product.

I would give it a 9 out of 10... The only drawback is that it does not provide a constant monitoring. You must press a button to get a new, up to date reading... not bad, but it does throw you off your stride.

The HR monitor buttons got stuck in the down position on 1st use, no use any more. Also the shape of the back suggests it is designed for small wrists, not at all comfortable on mine.

Right out of the box, I had a lot of difficulty getting a heart rate reading. Tried all the tips (wetting your wrist below the watch, etc) and nothing worked. Sent it back for a refund. Bought the Sportsline Analog strapless heart rate monitor and so far so good.

I bought this watch over a Mio mainly because of price and because of the poor reviews the MIO's received on Amazon. NEVER had a problem getting a reading, but it is a challenge getting a stable reading while running (not to mention trying to avoid running into something or someone while you're looking down at the watch). I wore this watch as my everyday watch for almost a year until the band finally gave out. That's where I think MIO has an advantage, they know the band is going to give out, so they offer "colorful" replacement bands.
