This nicely designed 45-piece flatware set provides service for 8; each place setting includes a 7-1/8-inch salad fork, 8-inch place fork, 9-1/2-inch place knife, 7-inch place spoon, and a 6-1/2-inch teaspoon. A 5-piece hostess set, consisting of a serving spoon, cold meat fork, butter knife, sugar spoon, pierced a serving spoon, is also included, as is a handsome, solid hardwood carrying caddy.

Each piece features a gently curved handle that's easy to grasp and feels solid in the hand with good weight and balance. The handle is adorned with a raised double-lined border that meets in a gentle scroll at the bottom. Made of heavy gauge 18/10 stainless steel to retain its good looks, each piece is dishwasher safe and sturdy enough for everyday use. Reed and Barton warrants this product for 25 years. --Jeff Dalto

This is a beautiful set of flatware. Yes, it is made in China and I realize that there is a lot of negative press right now about tainted products - but I did my research and sadly I've determined the following to be true. Stainless Steel Flatware is simply no longer made in the United States, or at the very least, is extremely difficult to find. Oneida did make Stainless Steel flatware here in the US at one time, but they have since closed their last US based plant back in 2005. Supposedly, you can still find leftovers from the USA production runs - but they're difficult to find (I couldn't find any myself). Now if you can afford it, Made in the USA Sterling Silver Flatware is easy to locate. However, seeing how I would need to take out a loan in order to purchase a full set of Sterling Silver, that simply was not an option.

I did write to various manufacturers and decided to go with Reed & Barton, simply because they were one of the few companies that responded back to my inquiries regarding 'where' their Flatware was manufactured (All of their "Stainless Steel" Flatware is made in China), and were at the very least straight forward about it (some responses I got back were extremely vague - ie.. they couldn't nail down production of any particular pattern to one location or another). I also read far more positive reviews on the 18/8 Reed & Barton sets than I had on any other 18/8 Flatware sets.

This set has a nice weight to it, but isn't too heavy. It's very sleek and elegant and I love the length of this collection. The tines on the dinner forks are a bit longer than what I'm accustomed to, but I think that seems to be the fashion now for flatware at this time (at least from what I've seen in Department stores as of late).

My family has been enjoying this flatware for a while now. It is much sturdier than our previous set which makes it a pleasure to handle; and it still looks like new after lots of use. I would never go back to a lower grade of stainless. The classic pattern is wonderful---looks great for everyday and special occasions.

The Colby flatware looked good upon arrival. However after the first washing it was discovered that almost all of the pieces had rust spots on them. On closer inspection there were numerous defects in the finish on the flatware. I was extremely disappointed after seeing so many good reviews of Reed & Barton flatware. Being over 60 years old I have seen a lot of flatware sets over the years and this is the worst I have seen quality wise.
The heft and feel of the flatware is great. To bad.

I received this set as a gift and was very excited to use them. They seemed rather nice right out of the package but after the first wash in the dishwasher they started to rust and it all went downhill from there. I got so aggravated that I ended up buying a completely different set. If you're up for washing and drying these by hand then they might be for you.

Exactly as described! Very nice and heavy. It washed well too! Big difference between 18/0 and 18/10. This IS 18/10.
