My daughter turned ten and had her ears pierced, so it was time to order her a "real" jewelry box to replace the little girl wind-up ballerina version she's had since she was a toddler.
I have owned a Reed and Barton jewelry box for over 20 years. It is made of solid, heavy wood, the velvet lining is sturdy and intact and overall it still looks brand new. When ordering this jewelry box for my daughter, I hoped Reed and Barton's quality would still be as high, and I was not disappointed. The wood, though painted in this version, is solid and heavy. The white lining is well secured to the inside of the box. The drawer is solid and slides smoothly. Clever features I wish my jewelry box had: the mirror that is the full size of the lid is a great idea. The dropped compartment for necklaces underneath the hooks is very handy. Overall, a five star jewelry box, and Amazon's price is a great deal.
