The new Dad is a pilot, and he loved it!

The concept is great -- twinkle star music in a silver airplane. The little plane is rock solid. However, the music box was a big disappointment.
The good news is that it's a real music box, not the electronic variety. Others might not have the problems that mine did, but this is what I found.
1.) The key mechanism is extremely small and tight. A young child could not turn it. (It was difficult for me). 2.) The music box was inconsistent.
Sometimes it just repeated the same few notes. 3.) "Twinkle Twinkle Little Star" was barely recognizable, or not at all. Other times is was better.
4.) The music is played almost faster than one can think, let alone sing along with it. 5.) Play time is very short. If I wound the key comfortably snug,
it played the song six times in ONE minute flat. Then stopped. If I wound it tightly, I could get another two songs and another half minute out of it.
5.)The mechanism also "rattled" a bit on a couple of notes.
6.)Made it China. I probably should have assumed that -- but somehow I didn't equate a Reed & Barton music box with Chinese imports.

I wish this would have worked. It's almost right. The silver airplane is five stars. But the music box in mine is a disaster.

I'm giving it two stars and detailed information about the one I just returned. This is not a good gift for my toddler grandchild.

We loved this airplane. It's high quality and well made. However, the propeller is plastic and broke within two days. The plane itself sits on a circle that's about the size of a quarter. Inside is where the key is placed. Because of it's location, the key often will get stuck by the edge of the circle making it very difficult to lift in order to turn. It's very frustrating! We returned this item and purchased the Reed and Barton Toad instead and it's PERFECT! No key problems at all since it's not encased inside of a small circle.

I bought this item as a gift and am very tickled with it. It is tiny, but I think it'll be the kind of gift the child may use to decorate their room for years to come. It has a baby-feel for a nursery (with the music feature), but could just as easily work on a desk, bookcase, or shelf later on. It looks and feels very expensive.

The new Mom loved this musical airplane! It plays "Twinkle Twinkle Little Star". It is made of siverplate; and it matches the flatware set - the airplanes are identical. The classic, turquoise Reed & Barton box was beautiful. The new Dad is a pilot, and he loved it!

Gave it to our Godson for his baptism as his nursery theme is airplanes and daddy is a pilot. The airplane itself looks amazing and feels quite heavy for it's rather small size... good quality. The musical aspect leaves a little to be desired as the tone is "tinny" when it plays.
