This book is everything it promised to be. Recommemded by a retired meteorologist during his marine meteorlogy seminar at the Seattle Boat Show, I bought it based on his recommendation. Written for professional fishermen and merchant marine officier trainees, it is easy to understand, well-doumented with color photographs, graphs and tables and a pleasure to read. A must-have book.

Ever since purchasing this book a couple months ago, I have used it daily in a meteorology course. I have found it to be very well-organized, well-researched, well-written, and very easily understandable. It is probably a little too easy for a college course, but it seems to be great for a maritime vocational school or junior/community college. Moreover, it can continue to be a great reference if one is working aboard a ship.
There are many diagrams and even several pages of color prints of various clouds.
If you need a good introduction, a good refresher book, or a good daily reference, I give Reed's Maritime Meteorology my highest recommendation.

This book is a valuable resource for anyone who is interested in learning more about marine weather. The descriptions are complete and accurate. There is an excellent selection of photos demonstrating the impact of various wind speeds on water. Want to learn more about how to read marine weather charts and understand nautical weather forecasting? Purchase this book. I keep it in my travel box.

Book is nice, information laid out good. Easy to read, not too intimidating! A little expensive, but not outrageous. Thanks.
