5.0 out of 5 stars Reel Fishing is worth a try, May 9, 2005

This is the first time I have been moved to write a review. Strange that it should be over a fishing game huh? I wanted a fishing game so I came here and looked at several options. I purchased Pro Fishing, Reel Fishing III, and Pro Bass for PS2. Reel Fishing is by far the more enjoyable for me. The game is superior because of the realistic visual and sound effects, the interesting (if a little too cute) ongoing plotline, and the side challenges. This is not your typical get on a lake and be in a tournoment type fishing game. Instead it is like a cross between a RPG and challenge fishing. As you meet goals you unlock more storyline and areas. Interesting side challenge you catch and keep fish that (If you feed and tap on *only* the unairated tank) grow large, huge in fact. You then can release them back into the wild and practice re-catching these lunkers!

The only negative is that the guide and game doesn't give easy to follow instructions about how to reel in a fish. Once you get it though it is increadibly easy in most cases. You can always go to an online FAQ for a good description about how to reel them in. Some of the real challenging fish are hard to find and they have realistic difficulties (such as blue gills and chum eating your bait when you are fishing for lunkers.)

Another bonus this game has is fishing variety. You are fishing in a lake and a stream but there is a wide variety of fish types depending on the area. Each time you catch a new type you get a little educational info about the fish you caught. Heck you even get a black lab that you get to name!

5.0 out of 5 stars FISH OR DIE, April 7, 2004
By A Customer
This review is from: Reel Fishing III (Video Game)
This is a great fishing game. its graphics are so real that you think you are really fishing. Dont listen to any other bad review but buy this freakin game or youre not a fisherman. It has dozens of fish to catch, and it is not that hard unless you know how to play. Also, this game has lots of places to fish that look as realistic as the fish.(which is pretty realistic)

2.0 out of 5 stars Worst Fishing Game I've Played, July 18, 2006
= Fun:2.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Reel Fishing III (Video Game)
Unfortunately I own this game, and I have to say that it is the worst fishing game I own. First off, walking around in the water, or whatever it is the pole(that's right it's just a pole view) is doing, doesn't cut it. Second, the bug sound effects, are as annoying as real bugs. Plus, u can't turn them off, only down so they are just a little annoying instead of horribly annoying. Also, I could care less about catching a freaking Japanese trout, or 3 quarters of the fish featured. Lastly, I fish alot, and it doesn't take you 4 minutes to reel in a 4 inch bluegill. The sooner I get done with this, the sooner I can sell this game and get a better one.

This game I think came out in 2003. At least that's what date I found on the back. Anyway, I love it. This game is so underrated and overlooked. In a lot of fishing games it seems you feel pressured to catch x amount of fish within a certain time, or the overall feel just isn't relaxing. This game has soothing music and nature sounds... and it's like being on vacation. You catch fish at your leisure and even take them back to the cabin to put them into tanks. Then you feed the fish and make them bigger so you can throw back and re- catch them (if you want). I'm not sure what some reviewers are talking about when they say you don't catch many fish in this game. I've caught a fair share and lost a few but even the struggle to catch them is fun. For a 2003 game, the scenery is realistic looking, not blocky, relaxing to look at as well. The physics of the game are realistic too. The casting, the drawing in of the line.... the movements of the fishing rod...the struggle with the fish... the actual physical tugging at the end of line... it's almost like you're really out somewhere fishing! It's only one player which as far as I know is the only drawback.
LOL... also people have mentioned the dog in the game. They could have made his movements a little less stiff. He's creepy... he moves like some sort of soulless robotic dog...it's hilarious if anything, but it doesn't take away from the rest of the game which is simply amazing.

4.0 out of 5 stars reel fishing again, December 29, 2008
= Fun:4.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Reel Fishing III (Video Game)
Although this game is very similar to Reel fishing 2, (the best ever),it is still quite enjoyable even though not too remarkably different, and this is where the beauty of it lies, it is a very good game, and you can jump right into it,which is always a plus.I did find some confusion related to naming the dog at the beginning, and the live keep box and the tanks at the lodge, also I ran out of tackle a couple times after the fish took off with my lures, but that problem is quickly solved with a letter from a friend.I'm not too far into this game yet, but I know it holds promise after having played Reel Fishing 2 and seeing similarities. The instruction manual covers all you need to know also.

This was my first fishing game experience and it turned out to be pretty good. Its neat to see when you hook a fish and it takes some strategy to reel them in. Also its neat to put them in a tank to watch how they are doing. Everything about the game is like real. Real fun if you like fishing!

4.0 out of 5 stars FISHING FUN, January 15, 2010
= Fun:4.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Reel Fishing III (Video Game)
very good game, when I first bought this game, I thought oh it wont be very good. but I love it!! its just like real fishing. a little hard at 1st, but then fun the second time around. after you learn how to catch the fish or course. I found out few things to look for and do better job fishing. there's a few cheats online that has helped. but read the letters and diary that you find in the game. but this has been a real challenge for me in this game. I rate this game: fun: 4 out of 5 on my scale! hope you will like it as much as I do?? but some kids wont like it. good for young or older adults.
