I've never considered myself much of a cook and don't own many recipe books, but Reel Food From Reel Women is a cookbook that someone like me can use and enjoy again and again. The recipes are fun and easy to make (even for a novice), but even better, they come from filmmakers, writers and entertainers from my world. I'm a big Xena fan, so I couldn't wait to try Katherine Fugate (writer), Adrienne Wilkinson (Eve/Livia) and Hudson Leick's (Callisto) contributions. Authors like Linda Crist and Lori L. Lake first were on my radar screen with Xena fanfic before they became successful novelists. Then there's Claudia Christian, a favorite of mine from Babylon 5, and familiar filmmakers like JD Disalvatore, Michelle Ehlen and Kelli Herd. Biographies and comments by the contributors are also included. I think this is a must have and a great gift for those who support women in film - and a fun one at that. I've made several of the recipes with great success!

The candid bios offer fans some new insights into the women so even if you don't cook, the book is a delight. I highly recommend this cookbook for anyone who is a fan of reel women.

It is easy to read and follow. For novices like ourselves, the recipes are not intimidating to understand and follow. It is quite fascinating to read the biographies and descriptions from some of the contributors on how the recipes came about. The colors for the different sections add spice to the book. Get yourself a copy and start cooking!
