About the Author

DR. EDWARD REESE has served as a pastor, evangelist, musician, missionary, educator, and writer. His previous book, the Reese Chronological Bible, created almost thirty years ago, is still in print today. His impressive database of information, called Reese Religious Research, has been of help to a number of organizations over the years. Since 1996, Ed has been teaching at crown College in Powell, Tennessee.

After studying Christian biographies for most of his life, Ed Reese has become a respected authority on the subject. In this Chronological collection of Christian biographies Ed has compiled an amazing Who's Who of leaders in the Christian church, from the days of the martyrs of the first century through to contemporary leaders, Tom Malone, Bruce M. Metzger, Gilbert E Patterson, Lee Roberson, Jerry Falwell, and Ruth Bell Graham, , who were influential until their death in 2007. The book includes over 5000 sketches and over 4,000 photos. Over 1,000 organizations cooperated in the effort and attest to Ed's thoroughness.

Ed has a biographical library of over 1,000 books. Selections for inclusion in this work included those mentioned two or more times in the books referenced from his amazing collection. Christian organizations, Bible schools, missionary societies, and major denominations were contacted for additional leadership considered for inclusion in the project.

The complete alphabetical index, listing of other influential personalities, list of abbreviations, and glossary add to the user friendly reference value of the book. A listing acknowledging the organizations providing information add to the validity and integrity of Ed's phenomenal accomplishment.

The book is more than a dictionary of Christian leaders. It is a comprehensive encyclopedia of biographical sketches of men and women impacting the growth and evolution of the church through the centuries.

I was particularly blessed as I reviewed the years 1946 through the present time as I identified with the individuals featured. Many of these leaders and ministries have had an impact on my own life, Christian growth and development.

"The Chronological Encyclopedia of Christian Biographies" is as incredible resource, a great tribute to twenty centuries of important leaders in Christendom. This is an important addition to the library of astute Pastors, Denominational leaders, Seminaries, Bible Schools.

This is a great book. It gives a general overview of many well known and some not so well known Christians. If any person is note worthy from a historical standpoint, and is Christian they will be in this book.

Dr. Reese did well in this "encyclopedia of Christian biographies". He put many hundreds of hours of research into this project, and it truly is great! I have him as a professor at college, and he is filled with knowledge of this kind!
