4.0 out of 5 stars skinless and boneless sardines
This is the best price to buy the best protein from the sea. Sardines are vegetarians and least toxic of all the fish in the ocean.

3.0 out of 5 stars Sardines
Very good value, and very consistant product in size. Unfortunately, I found them a little tough for my taste.

5.0 out of 5 stars Reese's Skinless Boneless Sardines, October 6, 2008

Reese Skinless and Boneless Sardines in Olive Oil, 3.75-Ounce Cans (Pack of 10)These skinless boneless sardines are great. We used to buy them at the store, but have not been able to find them except on the Internet. The flavor is mild and we get the ones packed in olive oil. If you like sardines, you will love these.

5.0 out of 5 stars Very Pleased with the Product, January 11, 2007
This review is from: Reese Skinless and Boneless Sardines in Olive Oil, 3.75-Ounce Cans (Pack of 10) (Grocery)
Extremely pleased with the product and with the price point at which Amazon had offered it.

The 3.75 ounce can contains larger sardines, typically 3 or 4. I'm looking forward to trying the 4 and 3/8 ounce cans when next offered as I suspect that it contains smaller sardines.

In any case, Reese and Amazon constitute an incredible value.

To help eliminate some of the confusion about buying Skinless and Boneless Sardines packed in pure olive oil, I bought the Reese brand in both the 3.75 oz can and the 4.375 oz can and compared them side by side.

Comparison:
3.75 oz Reese Skinless and Boneless Sardines packed in Pure Olive Oil:
The package on the 3.75 oz size stated that the sardines are a product of Morocco. Inside the 3.75 oz can were 3 fairly large sardines. The sardines were packed nicely laying on their sides head to tail, very clean looking, and mostly intact. The flavor was fairly mild but still very good. I was slightly disappointed about the size of these as I tend to like the flavor and texture of smaller sardines.

For this reason, and because of some slight flaking of one of the sardines in the can, I am rating these sardines a "3.7", and rounding this up to a "4" out of "5". I expect that the smaller sardines may hold their form better throughout the canning process.

Comparing the 4.375 oz Reese Skinless and Boneless Sardines packed in Pure Olive Oil:
The package on the 4.375 oz size stated that the sardines are a product of Portugal. The sardines in this can were smaller than those in the 3.75 oz can but were still slightly larger than what I'm used to. There were 4 sardines in the can packed side by side head to tail. They were nearly perfect being fully intact. The flavor and texture was very good. I noticed that there seemed to be a bit more residual moisture in these sardines and also mixed in the olive oil. I can't flaw the sardines for this as some may enjoy the additional moisture which was flavorful and didn't negatively impact the firm texture of these sardines.
Overall I'm rating this 4.375 oz size "4.2" which I'll round down to a "4" out of "5". If this were a 1 - 10 rating system the 4.375 oz can would definitely stand out as a better product. Unfortunately on a 1 - 5 star rating basis it was necessary to rate both cans at "4".

Please Note:
In checking Amazon's current listing for the 4.375 oz can of Reese Skinless and Boneless Sardines packed in Pure Olive Oil, it states that the sardines are a product of Morocco (7/29/10). As stated above the 4.375 size I rated was from Portugal. I've had great sardines from both countries but I'm still learning what's best. After all, looking to the future, who knows what may be found in the waters near either of these places. For now sardines appear to be a very healthy food choice.

The nutritional data on both sizes stated that there were 2 servings per can and the calories stated 110 per serving if drained. So if you eat a full can, it's actually 220 calories if drained.

Interesting that both the 4.375 oz and the 3.75 oz. cans state that there are 2 servings per can when drained. Both state 110 calories per serving even though the cans are quite different in size. If I ever do another comparison, I'll measure the amount of oil and liquid per can versus the amount of solids.

I really like it when products are carefully reviewed but I rarely write a review. I wrote this review as a way to contribute and do my share. Good luck shopping and finding your favorites!

Reese skinless and boneless sardines are of high quality at a fair price. They can be enjoyed as a topping on a garden salad dressed with an oil/vineger dressing or as an raw onion/sardine sandwich. A great healthy product. Thanks for making them available at a resonable price.

we cannot find these Sardines in our local store and they are the only ones we like. No skin, no bones, no heads in olive oil. My husband was so upset that we couldn't find them and now he is a very happy man. I will be ordering more when his supply gets low.

Not that great, prefer sardines with skin and bones. These have a completely different taste
