Summary: prompt, fresh, and in AAA condition on arrival.
Reese's are the Cheerios Honey Nut, 12.25-Ounce Boxes (Pack of 4) of the Candy aisle. Best in Class. Pretty sure they are very healthy as I would like to eat several a day and don't have the diabetes yet. If the packages include a calorie content sectsh, I certainly don't notice because I'm too busy devouring these morsels of heaven. 1.5 ounces of divinity right to the dome.
Recommended way to consume: Dipped in Nutella. Can they make a Nutella-filled reeses? Wow, just give me the Nobel Candy prize, right now.
Lastly, the full size cups (or even the super-large "Big Cup", which are also Philyodaddy-approved - please Reese's purists, don't nail me to the cross) are far superior to the little, dainty guys that come in the tin foil. Don't bring that weak crap up in this. You got the choc-pb ratio ALL WRONG. I'll eat those little guys if I am stranded on a dessert island or stealing your kid's halloween candy, but otherwise: no way, no how.
I swear I'm not fat. By the way see what I did with "dessert island" - pretty clever, right?
p.s. As for all the people who wrote reviews of this product claiming it is super fresh, what in the world are you talking about? It is a processed food. Did you think that they just picked your pack of 36 right off the Chocolate Peanut Butter tree before hand-delivering it to you in a refrigerated container?Read more ›
In the 1920s, from a factory located down the street from that of Hershey, Reese began selling his peanut butter cups in 5 lb. boxes to be used in candy assortments. In the 1930s he added the cups, which were originally sold for a penny each. During World War II Reese discontinued all his other products and just made the peanut butter cups, which were distributed through wholesale jobbers, vending machine operators and syndicated stores. After World War II the peanut butter cups, now in their familiar orange, yellow and brown wrapping, continued to gain national popularity. In 1963 the H.B. Reese Candy Company, Inc., was sold for $23.5 million to the Hershey Chocolate Company, and in 1976 the first variation in the Reese's Peanut Butter Cup was made with the introduction of Reese's Crunchy Peanut Butter Cup.Read more ›
1) Another reviewer said that the candy comes nearly stale, and I have to agree partially. The packages are almost expired (in just 6 months), but from what I can tell, the taste still seems OK (for me).
2) There is weird condensation on each peanut butter cup. This is strange because where I am now there is super low humidity (just 26% with fire watches). So I am not sure where the condensation came from but the box does say to store in a cool DRY place.
Other than those two things, I cautiously tried a taste test and they do seem OK. If you are looking for ultra-fresh, you may be better off shopping somewhere local. But if you'll give these away or your family goes through them fast, then maybe it's worth the low price. I don't think I will buy again, though.
