Specific to Young Living items, July 13, 2009
This review is from: Reference Guide for Essential Oils Eleventh Edition, October 2008 (Spiral-bound)
This is a useful reference guide and not a bad place to start becoming familiar with essential oils. The sections are very well organized and I quickly became used to the layout for quick searches. The down side of this book is that it is specifically directed toward oils that Young Living sells. If you purchase therapeutic grade oils through another source [...], you will find that there are oils available elsewhere that are not listed in this reference guide, i.e. eucalyptus lemon (Eucalyptus citriodora) or yarrow blue (Achillea millefolium).
Of the oils referenced, you will find the simple names, latin names, frequency of oils, chemical constituents, properties, and many suggested uses. Additionally, the authors list the individual oils contained in the blends sold only by Young Living, stating why each individual oil was used in that blend. Gary Young has done a great deal in bringing essential oil to the attention of the public, and I appreciate his work as it is well researched. As I continue to learn, I wish this book had covered all essential oils rather than only the ones YL selects to sell.
If you are looking for a Young Living reference guide, then this is a great resource to start with, however if you are looking for a complete aromatherapy book that includes all essential oils this book will miss the mark.
If this book covered all essential oils I would have given it 5 stars hands down.

The Best Essential Oil Books for the Price, January 24, 2009
This review is from: Reference Guide for Essential Oils Eleventh Edition, October 2008 (Spiral-bound)
Everytime this book is updated, I purchase the new edition. Compared to other reference guides, this is a great guide at 1/3 the price.
It seems the pricing on other books is related to the binding, and this book is spiral bound so it is great to open and lay flat for usage: Methods of Application, Vitaflex Therapy, Raindrop Technique, Auricular Emotional Therapy, and Emotional Release.
GREAT BOOK AT A GREAT PRICE!!
If you are looking for a excellent essential oil guide, this is the book. I have several oil books, and this is the most comprehensive and reasonably priced book. Do not be misled that the book is all about Young Living products.
The information on methods of application, essential oil constituents, and therapeutic grade oils can be applied to a number of companies. When it comes to the purchase of essential oils, it is your decision to buy the quality you desire. If the oil is a therapeutic grade, the application of the single oils can be use for any company of this caliber. (Why would you want to purchase cheap, adulterated oils for your body?)
There are Single Oils and Young Living Oil Blends sections.
The Personal Guide has 600 topics for physical and emotional problems.
The Body System Chart lists of all the products for the body systems affected.

Reference Guide for Essential Oils Eleventh Edition, October 2008, December 28, 2008
This review is from: Reference Guide for Essential Oils Eleventh Edition, October 2008 (Spiral-bound)
I am new to essential oils and did not know how to use them to their full benefit. This reference guide has proved itself to be the most valuable guide I have found. It is laid out in such a way that the information is easy to find and understand. The tips that are added are great! Thumbs up to these knowledgeable authors for sharing this information.
