5.0 out of 5 stars Sadly overlooked thriller
I strongly agree with the first reviwer. Here is a forgotten gem which is now available on region 2 DVD. An excellent cast working with a strong, moody script. Robert Shaw delivers an understated performance and Sondra Locke demonstrates that she was a clever actress who was more than just Clint Eastwood's girlfriend in the seventies and eighties. The atmosphere is rife...

3.0 out of 5 stars Sadly overlooked chiller!
Sondra Locke stars as Marguerite, a beautiful teenage girl who resides on a large, secluded country estate with her possessive mother (Mary Ure) and equally controlling grandmother (Signe Hasso). When her estranged father (Robert Shaw) reappears on the scene to ask for a divorce so that he can marry his girlfriend (Sally Kellerman), Marguerite develops a strong love for...

4.0 out of 5 stars Reflection Of Pear, June 16, 2010
This review is from: Reflection of Fear [VHS] (VHS Tape)
Another lost frightfest from my childhood. Watching "A Reflection Of Fear (1971)" was a delightful experience. The plot kept me interested and guessing.

The story is intriguing, you really want to know who the killer is, and you're tricked a few times.

Sondra Locke's performance as the evil daughter, Marguerite is one of the best in cinema history. If you've never seen it you owe yourself a look. I think you will be twisted for life. The story was interesting, with several plot twists that left you guessing.

A slasher film so special that it deserves a 4 star rating because there is nothing that compares to it and it's a haunting film.

The atmosphere is rife with tension and the cinematography is beautiful. The film looks like it was shot thru a gauze fabric. If you love thrillers in the Hitchcock mode then do yourself a favor and get this film. And the best way to enjoy it is with the cell phone turned off, in an empty house and in the dark of the night.

When her estranged father (Robert Shaw) reappears on the scene to ask for a divorce so that he can marry his girlfriend (Sally Kellerman), Marguerite develops a strong love for him and an obsessive hatred for her mother and grandmother, leading to a terrifying chain of violence and murder. Marvellously atmospheric thriller with good direction by former cinematographer William A. Fraker, an impressive early performance from Sondra Locke, and a twist ending that is sure to knock you right out of your seat.

5.0 out of 5 stars A frightening classic that will send chills up your spine!!, October 9, 2011

This review is from: A Reflection of Fear (DVD)
Robert Shaw is trying to begin a relationship with his daughter... who he has never met... who is now in her teens. Sondra Locke plays the roll of the teen daughter, absolutely insane, and she keeps you wondering and guessing the whole time. She has no friends, but the dolls and puppets of her room... Who she talks to, and they have a tendency to talk back! This film is done well, and is rather creepy! The story moves at a nice pace and the ending will leave you with chills and saying, no! It can't be!?!? If you are a Robert Shaw fan... Double treat!
