I read this collection of poems on adoption and was touched by each and every one. Never before have such simple words elicited such emotion. I laughed and I cried. This author offers insight into the world of adoption that few of us would ever have the opportunity to see otherwise. It was given to me as a gift but I would have gladly purchased it on my own. I highly recommend it.

I thought this book was excellent. It is amazing how Mrs. Mills was able to see the adoption process from all points of view, especially that of the birth mothers.

A great, moving book for anyone who has adopted, been adopted or knws someone who has been in that process at any point and time. Poems cover everyone involved from the birth mother to the established sibling in a positive and understanding light. An unusual approach to an emotional issue.

This book of poetry goes right to the heart of adoption. The poetry that author Sharon Mills has written is sensitive and emotional. She has been able to put herself in the place of the birth parent, adoptive parent and adoptive child. She has written from each perspective with an uncanny ability to be real in each senario. I truly believe that this is a book that all professional people who are involved in the adoptive process should have in their library. Sharon, an adoptive mother, herself is uniquely qualified in her understanding of some of the difficult issues of adoption. I believe she has clarity in the way she expresses her point of view.

This book is one that touches the heart of anyone even remotely involved with the adoption process. It deals very compassionately with all parties involved. It is very rare to be able to find a book that would make a wonderful gift for someone who has recently adopted a child, the adoptive parent/parents awaiting a child, the birthmother who has given up her child, the adopted child who has questions, poems for families to know their roles in this process, etc. etc. There is a poem in this book for anyone involved not only with adoption, but just the love of a child. Birth families, step families anyone involved in a parent/child relationship can gain so much from this book. This book has a total of 48 poems that will in some way touch the heart of anyone that reads one. If you want encouragement, joy, healing, empowerment, understanding, Reflections of Adoption is the book for you. To the author thank you for caring enough to address the many complex areas of what it means to be a family.
