I loved the extra tracks in this CD. Also loved the slow and dance tunes. :)

2.0 out of 5 stars A bad day at the office
I've read a lot of the reviews of this album where it got 4 and 5 stars and i find it extremely hard to see why. If you consider the genius ability of Paul Van Dyk to produce seminal material like "For An Angel", "How Much Can You Take" ( with Cosmic Baby),
" Seven Ways" ( including the singles 'Forbidden Fruit', 'Words' and 'Beautiful Place) and so on, it's hard...

I got this special edition hoping to find some pleasures in the mixes. I think you'd be better off saving money buying the single album version. This album is great in many ways, but not like PvD's older style. When I first heard Forbidden Fruit, I was determined to find out more about PvD...For one, there's more vocals on this album, featuring Jahn Johnston, whose voice is ok. You should check out the beautiful voice of Justine Suissa in Armin van Buuren's 76 album. If you are a die hard fan of trance, her voice will captivate you! Those who really liked PvD's trance-like music would find this album refreshing and different. There's certainly a mixture between pop, trance, dance, and hard progressive beats. The best songs are Homage, Connected, Spellbound, and Kaleidoscope.

I don't understand how obtuse people can be about the album 'Relections,' and its subsequent reissues. Folks, don't you get the amazing DJ Paul Van Dyk is TRYING to be different ON PURPOSE??? Have any of you even bothered to read about his efforts for this album on his official website? That's WHY it doesn't sound like "the old Paul Van Dyk." DUH!!! Wake up and accept the fact that sometimes artists get BORED of doing the same tired old thing, day in, night out. Aren't they allowed to experiment, grow, and change?
The tracks on this album, when listened to for what they are, are actually very good. People just need to approach it with OPEN ears, not 'conditioned to expect the same old stuff' ears.

I've read a lot of the reviews of this album where it got 4 and 5 stars and i find it extremely hard to see why. If you consider the genius ability of Paul Van Dyk to produce seminal material like "For An Angel", "How Much Can You Take" ( with Cosmic Baby),
" Seven Ways" ( including the singles 'Forbidden Fruit', 'Words' and 'Beautiful Place) and so on, it's hard not to conclude that this album is poor enough by his standards.
There are some positives- Nothing But You and Connected are nice enough numbers and there is evidence of Paul Van Dyk's versatility as this production is pretty different from his previous efforts. It's just a shame that this album is so commercial and poppy. I have nothing against pop music per se but when i listen to PVD i like to hear uplifting, danceable music with a hard edge. The edge is lacking on this album and as much as i've tried to give it a chance, i just can't get into it.
I still think Paul Van Dyk is a super DJ and producer but i think that, in an attempt to evolve and stay fresh, he has fallen down a bit here. In a review i did of his "Seven Ways" album, i stated that it was the definitive PVD album to date. Having listened to " Reflections" quite a few times, i see no reason to change that statement. Yet.

i have written several times requesting to return the merchandise. i received a the CD reflections by Paul Van Dyk, and it is a double disc set. well, i received two number 2 discs and not number one. the reason i decided to purchase this CD is because of the music contained on disc number 1. i have yet to receive any thing from media crazy. all i asked for was the disc number 1 to be sent to me. i did not want my money, but i have not received anything from them. now, i do want my money back.
