Book Description

October 19, 1999
The stories of divine intervention in people's everyday lives continued to occupy Peter Shockey's thoughts, even after his documentaries on the subject for The Learning Channel had been completed and garnered numerous awards. In Reflections of Heaven, Shockey shares the most compelling accounts he has heard over the past decade, and also offers profound insight into what the increasing presence of the divine in daily life can mean in the new millennium.

Beginning with his own personal story, Shockey goes on to introduce others who relate their miraculous experiences, ranging from visions of heaven to the presence of angels. He then puts these encounters in an enlightening context as he explores discernible patterns of divine intervention in history, as well as in the Bible. In doing so, he takes readers on an unforgettable spiritual odyssey that will change the way they look at the here-and-now--and the hereafter.

Editorial Reviews

Amazon.com Review

Author Peter Shockey first explored the near-death phenomenon as a documentary filmmaker in the film Life After Life. From there he gained funding to film Angel Stories, and finally went on to make the documentary Miracles Are Real. While filming these modern-day stories of reincarnation, angels, and miracles, Shockey began to notice a parallel between the contemporary stories he was documenting and the stories of miracles, angels, and afterlife that exploded during the time of Christ's arrival. Thus, it is the epiphany behind this book that shows the links between these contemporary stories and the miracles that appear in biblical Scripture.

Because Shockey has a strong documentary background, he knows how to introduce and pace a good story. Lulled into his folksy conversational tone, readers are often surprised by the spine-tingling endings to these true stories of miraculous encounters. Shockey tells of visitations from radiant strangers that heal people of terminal illnesses, and an angel who pulls a suicidal man off the ledge of a bridge. He tells of a woman's near-death experience, and how she meets an infant brother in heaven that her parents never told her about. When she returns to earth she later discovers he did indeed exist. By explaining how these stories mirror encounters and revelations during the time of Christ, Shockey puts these events into a comforting historical and Christian context. --Gail Hudson

Review

"A fascinating journey."
--Joan Wester Anderson, author of Where Angels Walk

"'There are more things in heaven and earth,' said Shakespeare's Hamlet, 'than there are dreamt of in your philosophy.'  Peter Schockey presents here fascinating evidence for the reality of the miraculous.  His inspiring book is full of provocative thoughts and great stories."
--Timothy Jones, author of Awake My Soul and The Art of Prayer

Shocky writes in such an easy manner that this book was a hard one for me to put down. Even after reading it, I found myself mulling over the stories and their powerful messages. It has definitely touched me and my family in a positive way, especially as I have put to work some of the lessons learned. What a wonderful gift this makes for a friend or loved one in need of a lift. It doesn't take long to read, but what a difference it makes!

This review is from: Reflections of Heaven: A Millenial Odyssey of Miracles, Angels And Afterlife (Hardcover)
I picked up Reflections of Heaven and couldn't put it down. Peter Shockey captures God's fundamental truths along with universal law and relates both to the growing spirituality of the individual and collective as we approach the coming of the new millenium. Similar to Conversations with God and Talking to Heaven: Messages from a Medium, Reflections is an incredible stepping stone and guidepost on the path to enlightenment. Shockey documents actual occurences from the angelic realm and writes in a highly intelluctual and intelligent manner so that even the most skeptical of critics can not deny overwhelming proof and evidence that we live in a spiritual world. I recommend everyone to read this book, and guarantee you will come away with a new knowledge of profound truths, and better understanding of God, the world we're living in, and yourself. This is a wonderful, wonderful book you will want to read again and again!
