Book Description

Do you put your faith and work in different boxes? Work stays at work; faith stays at church (or home). Spirituality has nothing to do with the marketplace; business has nothing to do with religion. What happens at the office stays at the office.

Have you failed at past attempts to connect these two facets of life? Some have tried or observed unsuccessful efforts to integrate faith and work and recall the awkward or disastrous results. Often red flags go up when people introduce themselves as a "Christian" businessperson. Alarms clang when people use religion of any kind as a negotiating chip. Great faith cannot compensate for unethical behavior or mediocre work.

This book offers a better way for business professionals seeking to positively impact their workplace. If you have never made a connection between your work and your faith, listen up! God has intentionally designed your life circumstances to accomplish His purposes.

This is not just another devotional book. Rich biblical insight, personal revelation, and probing reflections add up to exceptional teaching and encouragement. At the core is change--re-framing a daily-grind perspective to one of fulfilling purpose. A must-have for one-on-one mentoring, personal, or small group study. A standout gift and resource that will motivate business professionals to seek mastery, not mediocrity --Carol Pye, Chicago, Illinois

This book affirms our natural disconnection between the workplace and our relationship with God. It breaks down all the barriers and gets right to the point of how to integrate God into work. This is a well-written guide to take your faith to the next level and is a must read for people looking to put application into their lives. Well done! --Jason Claunch, Executive Director, Dallas Real Estate Ministries

After reading David's new book I was struck by his wise and insightful gleanings from a lifetime of experience in the real estate marketplace. The great commission of Christ to "go and make disciples" must begin with the personal choice to become a disciple. David will help the reader learn how to discern the sound of the higher call of Christ to follow Him, even in the midst of today's marketplace roar! David shows how God, in His wisdom, uses both the triumph of success and the pain of failure to forge the character of His own Son upon the human heart, thus making Christian disciples. I have found that each of these bite-sized reflections are the perfect length and a challenging weight to be used as part of my daily devotion to Christ. --Kathy Brown, Plano, Texas

5.0 out of 5 stars A Must Read July 25, 2012
Format:Hardcover
The subject matter of a "Reflections on a Higher Call" is so relevant, yet so neglected by the church today. It is a must read for any believer who regularly engages with others, regardless of their vocation. The format is ideal for a daily devotion or small group. David Atchison, reminds us that work was not only created by God, but designed for His glory. This book will change the way you view work.

The market place is the most fertile, but least harvested mission field of our day. "Reflection on a Higher Call" challenged me and showed me how to take my faith and spiritual influence into the marketplace.

A simple yet powerful message. Thanks David!
