A sensuous trip to ancient Egypt,
By A Customer
This review is from: Reflections in the Nile (Paperback)
Well, I'm certainly gald I finally ordered this book! I haven't been able to find it in any bookstore, but I've had my eye on it for awhile. It was definitely worth it. This is a sensuously written love story, and a very interesting account of ancient Egypt and the historical events surrounding the Exodus. Ms. Frank puts an interesting spin on things, altering some of the time-honored perceptions we have about this event. Granted, I don't know all that much about ancient Egypt, so perhaps my perception would have been different if I was more knowledgable. I know that any novel about the Civil War has been absolutely ruined for me because I know a little too much about it...damn my college degree!...but I digress.Reflections in the Nile is a very good read - I finished it within two days. The author really knows how to build suspense and keep the reader guessing, and her descriptions are very lifelike. They almost make you feel a part of the scene. The love story is also handled well, with the romantic tension never ebbing for a moment. And that scene with the honey...well, I wouldn't mind having someone like Cheftu around after that! Although not nearly as emotionally stirring as Diana Gabaldon's Outlander series, this is definitely a good alternative while you're waiting for The Fiery Cross. Now I have to go order the second book, Shadows on the Aegean...

I loved this book!,

I was introduced to the time travel genre through the books of Diana Gabaldon. I didn't think anything could top that series. This was an exciting novel. I really couldn't put it down. There were so many devices that lifted this book to another level. The main character is not only transported to another time, she arrives in another body. She also has to worry about what an decadent Egyptian priestess is doing in her stead. I loved the use of the concept of "The Other", the voice that helped the main character Chloe assimilate into Egyptian life. I didn't expect to like this book, but it really won me over. I can't wait to read the next installment!

Read this book!,

I tried to put this book down--and FAILED!!!
I read lots of books. Only one other has gripped me so. I was so captivated by this intriguing novel, I found myself saying, "Just a few more pages," literally for hours.
This first novel reads like one from a veteran. It's delightfully readable--even for someone who HAD no interest in time travel.
Suzanne is a lovely person, as charming as her main character, and a gentle, disarming soul. She's made of the stuff that will sustain her through many novels--so much more the blessing for us.
