peaceful, melodic collection,
By A Customer
This review is from: Reflections of Passion (Audio CD)
This CD contains Yanni's more reflective, romantic songs some of which are unparelled in their mastery. Songs like "After the Sunrise", "Nostalgia", and "Reflections of Passion" are simply unbelievably well composed and performed, and are definitive representatives of earlier Yanni sounds. Two new tracks were added especially for this album,"True nature", and "Flight of Fantasy", which features seamless flowing of melodies that takes you into the world of Fantasy. This is one of the best new age albums out there, period.

If you want some of the best music Yanni has to offer, this is a great CD to get. I have since bought many other Yanni CDs, but this remains my favorite.

Heartfelt, honest and unabashedly romantic,
By Brianna Neal (USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Reflections of Passion (Audio CD)
Some may say the music of Yanni is syrupy, saccharine, musically light and full of stylistic cliches, and they're probably right, but sometimes ... that's exactly what you need! I do, anyway. There is an undeniable energy to this music that captures the attention, moves, motivates and tugs at the heartstrings. I think what I like most about his style is that while it does have some depth, it doesn't brood and wallow in it. Many of Yanni's full-voiced keyboard compositions are cheerful, set in major keys, and while some of the musical motifs are a undeniably trite, the compositions do build and change, developing a rich, diverse texture. "Reflections of Passion" gathers together some of the best--great music to play during periods of emotional release and healing. Just listen and look upwards, and you'll find a spot of sunshine to appreciate on any cloudy day. "Reflections of Passion" is a compilation of previously released hits from Yanni's earlier albums, and a similar collection, released around the same time in the early 1990s is "In Celebration of Life".

My favorite CD in my collection.,

This CD ebbs and flows so well. I feel happy and sad and excited at different times. I love that it is all instrumental. Nothing hides or covers the music. You can listen and really get into it or use it as background.

The Perfect Yanni,
By
This review is from: Reflections of Passion (Audio CD)
I've always thought of Reflections of Passion as one among of Yanni's most prestigious album. Don't get me wrong, I think all of his albums are just incredibly great. Live at the Acropolis was just breathtaking (snd best music video in US history). I grew up listnening to Yanni, and this was one of the first albums I owned (on Cassette). Now as a touring musician, the music on this album has shaped my style of writing music so much. One of my favorites on the album is Reflections of Passion and the Rain Must Fall. Nostalgia is a signature Yanni song. In order to comprehensively understand Yanni and his later works, you have to listening to this album. From this album, you hear where his distinct sound is derived from. For example, what artist in the world could write a song as sophisticated and distinct as Nostalgia (the song's meter is 5/8). The album is a fine blend of Grecian, Oriental, and Rock/pop (from his Chameleon Days). I highly recommend this album. Don't just judge Yanni by his name, but by the music he writes. If you don't buy Reflections of Passion, Live at the Acropolis is a must for any person who likes to listen to real live quality music.

This is a very heart-warming, relaxing collection of music. I have played it countless times and never get tired of having it going in the background. Usually, I will set it to repeat-play "After the Sunrise" because it is such a beautiful piece. It really goes to the soul. Great album overall. This CD would probably make a great gift.

This review is from: Reflections of Passion (Audio CD)
All of Yanni's music have a certain type of uniqueness. Each of his recordings tell a separate story that connects to the listener. His music is both uplifting and inspiring to me as a writer. This is one of Yanni's best compilations that I continue to play on a weekly basis. I truly enjoy this CD.

A Good sample of Yanni's better works.,

Forget everything else from Yanni, these two compilations are all you need! "Reflections of Passion" and "In Celebration of Life" present the best of Yanni's more impressive (pre-1990) works. In my opinion, his best works ("Santorini," "Marching Season," "Keys to Imagination"), are on In Celebration of Life.
