This religion keeps such a low profile I was convinced I would never see it on line or in books. It's exciting to learn I was wrong.

I couldn't put this book down. It comprises first-hand true stories written by 57 people (or couples) who were raised in or converted to "the Truth" and who have left it. Almost all of them were brave enough to sign their names and addresses. Those outside "the Truth" will wonder why courage would be needed to sign their names, but those who know it will understand how their relatives remaining in the religion will be affected.

The publisher and/or editor has done an excellent job of compiling stories from all over the English-speaking world. Everyone who has had contact with "the Truth" will find a story with familiar worker and convention names. I was reading the book to recover bits of my past, and I definitely found them. The complaints about things workers have said to people will seem petty to "strangers," but they all rang true when I read them. And they weren't petty when you had to comply with what they meant.

I am giving the book four stars rather than five for two reasons. One is that all the stories are from people who are now devout Christians, most in Protestant churches. I would like to hear from ex-"friends" who became atheist or agnostic in the process of rejecting the church. The other is that the typography seems amateurish, which is distracting.

Note that the reviewer that gave one star is himself a "worker" in the subject group.

I personally know some of the folks who have written the stories in the book: Reflections by Daurelle Chapman. I also have experienced many of the things written in this book.

This book is a 'must read' for anyone contemplating going into this quasi-christian cult.
