5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic Aussie Pop/Rock Act
Killing Heidi are yet to take their music internationally. However, when they do, if their success at home in Australia is any indication, then they are going to literally rock the world.

1.0 out of 5 stars music? huh!
Killing Heidi represent the segments of the music industry that are killing music! Their "music" is hollow, meaningless, repetitive, and a sad indictment on the Australian music scene! Please, some more originality! Ella Cooper should learn how to sing and more importantly (i guess in her case), learn how to dance!

Killing Heidi are yet to take their music internationally. However, when they do, if their success at home in Australia is any indication, then they are going to literally rock the world.

Ella, Jesse, Warren and Adam make up Killing Heidi with Ella on lead vocals. Just hearing her, you'd expect a young woman in her mid 20's, but at just 16 years of age she really does make Killing Heidi what they are with her extraordinary vocals and song-writing ability.

1. Mascara - It is easy to understand why this went number 1 on the Australian charts. It's rock intro soon goes into a beautiful pop verse and then followed by a rock chorus. It's a fantastic and clever song. 5/5

2. Weir - This is the band's debut single and reached number 6 on the Australian charts. Again another very high quality pop/rock song. When I first heard it, it reminded me a little bit of Cheryl Crowe. 5/5

3. Superman / Supergirl - A very rocky intro, that changes into a slower powerful song and back into a fast rock chorus. Not as good as 'Mascara' but is still a great song, and again fantastic vocals. 4/5

4. Astral Boy - A much slower song, with lovely vocals. The music almost reminds me a bit of Jewel. 4/5

5. Leave Me Alone - Another very powerful rock intro. Only it doesn't soften, the whole song is quite edgy. 3.5/5

6. You Don't Know - Not a favorite track, it's an edgy rock song, but a bit repetitive. 3./5

7. A Jar Labelled Small - Good rock song, that contains a nice soft section before returning to the fast rock. 4/5

8. Class Celebrities - Very edgy fast rock. Unlike some of the 'harsh' sounding songs, this one almost has a melodic sound to it underneath it's edginess. 4.5/5

9. Live Without It - This is my second favorite track after 'Mascara' and should do well as their third single. It's got more a pop sound to it than the previous tracks. Fantastic song and vocals.

10. Real People - Another of the edgy rock songs. Not a bad song. 3.5/5

11. Jon's Song - Interesting intro, with nice vocals. A calmer song that builds up to a faster rock sound. A really good song, and the recipe of combining the melodic'ish pop, with the edgy rock once again works really well, with Ella's voice strong enough to handle it all. 4.5/5

12. Black Sheep - Fantastic final song. More pop than rock, and catchy. 5/5

Killing Heidi released their debut single 'Weir' in Australia a little over a year ago in Australia. Since then they have become the biggest music act in Australia, with a number 1 single and their album 'Reflector' debuting at number 1, and still remains there after 4 weeks.

In a couple of months they hope to take their music overseas where they will become Australia's biggest export without a doubt. Killing Heidi's sibling couple Ella and Jesse are the true talent behind the band, writing all the music themselves and will without a doubt steal the show at this year's A.R.I.A. awards.

since i already have the original release of killing heidi's cd. i thought for awhile before getting the re-release of it. all the tracks are good. it comes as a 2 cd set, with the studio version of the songs on one disc and on the other with the extra 14 songs, they are all live. and the added bonus is that on the cd with the live songs. you get to see the american version of the video 'weir' and the video for 'superman/supergirl' and an interview with courtney cox. it's all good. i recommend it for any fan of killing heidi, because i don't know how long it's gonna be around for

5.0 out of 5 stars Absolutely Fantastic!, March 20, 2001
This review is from: Reflector (Audio CD)
I heard "Weir" on the radio while staying in a hotel in Australia. It was like an infection. I could not get the song out of my head. I was on a mission to find the CD. It turns out that they only had released singles and I could not find Weir. I asked a local about them and he told me that they were basically a local band (from the Northeastern Victorian town of Violet Town) that was just making it big. So, I traveled back to the States with only a memory (and an couple MP3s I found on Naperster). A friend sent me the CD the day that it was released in Australia. I have been a huge fan ever since.

This is only of those CD that I can just pop in my CD play an leave it on repeat.

Click the samples and hear it for yourself. The whole album is that good!

I can't wait for them to start touring in the US.

You sick of hearing manufactured bands - I am! Killing Heidi certainly aren't....They released Weir and Mascara as singles and their individual sounds have carried through onto Reflector. An awesome debut album! This is the best Australian rock band in years, worthy of being classed as the best world wide this century. Tour the UK guys!

For those of you who enjoyed the Reflector C.D., this Box Set is a must have for all you Killing Heidi fans out there. The live C.D. only enhanced my appreciation for this band. If you are just getting into Killing Heidi dont even bother with the American release. Go for the import. Most Outstanding!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Lucky to have found ya Heidi!, May 23, 2001
By A Customer

I can't believe how well this album was produced. Guitar rifs, percussion and Ella providing her own background vocals are all amazing! First saw them at an International Festival in Phoenix in March (and if you happen to read this ...Heidi...sorry about the little boy running around wildly in front of the stage!) What a work of art. Truly shows their dedication to making it big...Fave tracks...Superman/supergirl, Leave me Alone,Live with outit, Jon's song and Black Sheep. The lyrics are deep and perfect for anyone who's looking for that relation to meaning in their life. Quiet refrains and hard chorus give you a break from the repetitive U.S. bands. Comparative to Hole and No Doubt...There is NO DOUBT in my mind they are a blast to listen to!

This CD is SO good! Every song is a good song, which is a rare thing these days. As an Australian living in America, I am so pleased that such a good band has come from Australia. Their songs vary from Class Celebrities, which is heavy on the electric guitar (and beautiful all the same) to Weir, which is a much slower song. All 12 tracks are well done. I first heard about them when I was visiting my best friend in July 2000. So i went home and downloaded Mascara from Napster and was hooked from then on. I ordered the CD on March 17 from Amazon and had it in my hands on the 22nd. I've been listening to it nonstop ever since. Killing Heidi is definitely one of my top three bands. It's a great CD, you won't be disappointed!

Killing Heidi are one of the best new bands to come out of this country in recent times. Their debut single "Weir" and follow up "Mascara" are both great songs that will be stuck in your head all day! This fanastic band prove that we can produce quality music in Australia that is definately worth listening to.

5.0 out of 5 stars Not girl-punk by any means but they rock, March 12, 2002
By A Customer
This review is from: Reflector (Audio CD)
Killing Heidi, although too poppy for many, rock much harder than many bands today. Ella Hooper, the teenage lyricist and front-girl, is fairly incredible with a voice that would be hard to match. The rest of the band (including Ella's brother Jesse) puts out some great music to back up Ella. Together they've got an album that's, not only really good, but totally fun to listen to. Grab this if a radio-friendly track or two don't force you to turn up your elitist nose.
