Biography

Chiasm is a solo female electro project from Detroit, MI created by Emileigh Rohn in 1997. The named comes from the greek letter "X", pronounced chi ("c" sounds like a "k" and rhymes with sky) and was chosen in relation to the crossing of optic neurons in the brain that allow us to have continuous and peripheral vision. In the same way, it was started at a time considered a point of "crossing… Read more in Amazon's Chiasm Store

Editorial Reviews

"The often dismal character of the Motor City is known for inspiring a host of instrumental techno artists, but Chiasm (Emileigh Rohn) chooses to express her angst through very intimate and intense audio exorcisms that juxtapose her ethereal, haunting vocals and confrontational snarls with murky, minimalist industrial sounds. Disorder, her debut release, makes an immediate impression, displaying an honest tenderness despite its tough and tense musicality. From the murky title track to the kinetic, confrontational `Fight' or the lonely, longing `Formula,' Disorder is a revealing audio diary full of electro energy and honest emotion that gives the idea of `girl power' a whole new spin." -- CMJ "Emileigh Rohn's music is one of the often overlooked treasures of the dark electro/industrial genre." -- LiarSociety "It's been an incredibly long and anxious wait for this new album, but the wait has paid off and fans are rewarded with an excellent work ... pulsating electronics, thoughtful lyrics, fragile vocals, and a full range of musical styles in the form of a dozen excellent tracks." -- GothicParadise "Emileigh Rohn's voice is somewhere between Björk and kaRIN of Collide--soothing in sound and yet jarring in message." -- Outburn

It is with great pleasure that COP International announces Chiasm's highly anticipated third studio album. Chiasm started out as an industrial project, but has transcended the genre and moved into the realm of electronica. Reform is a beautiful mix of cutting-edge beats and bleeps mixed with a deeply emotional sense of humanity. This striking combination has been embraced by a worldwide fan base that is eagerly awaiting Emileigh Rohn's new album. Her current video "Someone" has had more than 6,500 views on YouTube in less than three months. If you are looking for deeply original work with a charming sense of quirkiness and delicacy, look no further--Emileigh Rohn will mesmerize you!

5.0 out of 5 stars Chiasm Hits the Mark Once Again!, December 14, 2008

This review is from: Reform (Audio CD)
In her latest album release Emileigh Rohn "Chiasm" not only manages to bring new combination of music and delight to the listener but also stays true to her musical stylings that have made her one of the best electronica gothic/industrial artists around, in my opinion. A definitive must for Chiasm fans and people who are interested in similar music

4.0 out of 5 stars Same good style, mixing still needs work, February 2, 2009
This review is from: Reform (Audio CD)
I've always been a secret fan of Chiasm, ever since the 2004 presentation of the song, "Isolated," in a then popular computer game. This new album delivered the same pleasantly dark style, but the same less than professional quality of mixing and the same problems with vocals.

This album made me no less of a fan, and a few songs were more than notable, but I hope that by denying the Chiasm project its fifth star, they will seek to do their part for the fans by improving as musicians. Talent alone won't keep me entertained. Hard work is what this music project needs.
