I purchased this book based on the single 5 star review. I thought it was three novels combined into a special edition since the tales were separately available. I did not realize that they are basically three short stories. Each is about an English rake in the noble class who indulges his passions freely as a single man, but ultimately falls in love with a good woman through various circumstances leading to marriage. While no time period is given (an oversight that should be cured), it is still the time of carriages and the ton so I'm thinking it's the early 19th century, or maybe late 18th. My biggest complaint about these stories is that they are over just as they get going. I would have wanted each story to be a full fledged novel. Her writing is very good and certainly would hold my interest for 400 pages. As it is, since they are so short, while there is a lot of sex (and that well described), the plots are quite simple and there is no time for complex character development. Still I can recommend them and I enjoyed each of them. As a warning to those who do not like short stories, I note that she has written in this manner in other series (Seducing The Highlander being the most recent example out this month, May 2010). I will read more of hers as I like her writing, but I am really hoping for a longer story next time. That would justify a 5 star rating, I'm sure.

I am an avid fan of Emma Wildes, read everything she writes. Love the action, the way she makes her characters so sexy, fun, etc. Many books are too long, take forever to get to the point but this book could have kept going. The plot was such that she could have included more characters and I could keep reading and stop only to eat. She needs to write more! Thank goodness I am retired, partially home bound and I have her books to look forward to. Plot grabs you from very beginning.
