It's made out of cheap plastic and coated with a silver lining.

Initially had problems with the hose leaking at the handheld, but it adding an additional rubber washer seems to have done the trick.

I'll go ahead and review the product, then make comments on installation.

PRODUCT:

This Refresh Combo unit has some pleasant surprises..

Good water volume on the Rain shower head. This to me is more important than all other factors combined, and with this unit I get more flow rate restricted than I did with my old shower head unrestricted. See my "Installation" section below for flow rate data.

My next favorite thing about this unit is the uniformity and velocity of the spray from each individual nozzle on the main head. My old shower head had the nozzles on the perimeter of the head spray with considerably less power and "straighness" than its center nozzles. This unit is very uniform throughout. The effect is that this shower feels good to both stand in, and rinse with. That's not an easy thing to accomplish. I have no trouble rinsing shampoo quickly. Other shower heads rinse well too, but have a narrow, high speed piercing feel. Well done Moen.

After showering, I noticed my bathroom mirrors weren't fogged up, and the air wasn't as damp. This showerhead is efficient at accelerating water without breaking it apart in to a partial mist. Serendipity ! ... a surprisingly nice benefit.

As far as the handheld, this is where there is good and bad, and where the rating loses a point.

The handheld unit doesn't have enough flow rate. It has 1.95 gallons per minute on the narrow setting. About ten percent more than that for the wide setting. That's about the same as my old Water Pik in this same narrow mode, but the water velocity and "rinsing power" are much less. I'm even contemplating getting a seperate handheld as an upgrade to this one.

First of all, I would say that 90 is a little overpriced for this showerhead. I got mine at Bed bath and Beyond for 40 with a coupon. but lets move on.

After reading some of the reviews saying there was massive leaking from the diverter or the handshower unit I was worried I would get the same issue. At first I did encounter some slight leaking but to fix this just take reinstall the unit and check for a few things

1. make sure the black gasket inside both the diverter nut and the handshower nut are pressed all the way down. if the gasket is not fully seated to the bottom before installation then it will more than likely leak. But this would be a problem with any showerhead not just this one.

2. Do not over tighten the diverter nut, if you do, the gasket will get pressed into your shower j-pipe and you won't have any sealing which will ensure some pretty serious leaking

(side note I do not work for moen, but I do work for a company where we make exterior grade products that need to be sealed so I know a thing or two about gaskets)

So if you install this correctly you'll be fine. I think the shower head works great, have not had any issues and is pretty easy to use. The water pressure from the handshower is really nice as is the shower head, I usually have both on but either one has constant heavy pressure. I drilled out the water restricters in both units to allow more waterflow. Its pretty easy to do, just drill a hole into the little grey plastic piece you see in the head units. If you don't know what I'm talking about then don't do it because you'll ruin your product.

This is a good product HOWEVER it does need an adjustment. I had the same experience as the other reviewer however I called the service hotline on the package. The company knows they screwed up the hose attachment piece but they will tell you to just use a wrench to turn it upsidedown. The operator said 'You will hear a popping noise but it is ok, just turn it.' We did this for ours and it worked but there was a scary little rattle afterwards inside the unit. After attaching it though everything works and it is fine and it doesnt leak. You would think they would just recall all of them and put out new ones that dont need the adjusting.

Maybe the problems have been fixed, maybe I just installed it correctly, but this doesn't leak from the connections, and when you switch between the main head and the handheld the other doesn't leak, which is a problem I had with a previous shower I bought at Costco.

I bought mine at Menards for $47.

Although the instructions don't say to, I used a little teflon tape on the connections, better safe than sorry, and the tape was only 89 cents.

Here's what's important: Attached to the hose by a twist tie are two rubber circles, O-rings. The reason they are there is you have to put them at each end of the hose, push them into the part you turn to connect the hose to the parts, and it won't leak at all.

Now, this shower has the best pressure I've felt in years. Better than any luxury hotel. The 9" diameter means your whole body will get soaked. I was going to remove the regulator from the main head, but Moen's website stated this will actually decrease the pressure. Well, I didn't remove it, and the pressure is very strong, almost stinging. Most of the settings on the handheld are useless, except the full-body spray, which was impressive for a handheld. That's okay though, the main reason we wanted the hand shower was to give our dog a bath. Besides, with so much pressure from the main head, you really won't find yourself using the handheld.

I deducted 1 star because the handheld mounts above the main head, which in my shower means it's 7 feet high! My shower doors are only 6 feet high. Also because the exterior is plastic, yet it's priced as if it were metal.
