1.0 out of 5 stars DO NOT Buy this item, you will be sorry!
DO NOT buy this item, as the unit you will recieve is not the same as the one pictured, or described. Unit came without shutoff arm, wiring harnesses, installation hardware or instrcutions. Called seller to inquire and was told amazon made a mistake and has the wrong picture displayed. According to the CSR, this has happened to several other people as well. But guess...

If you buy this part, make sure you give it 24 hours to work. I was expecting it to start working right away as soon as I installed it. I was very frustrated when I didn't see the dial start to spin when installed. I actually took the part out and sent it back thinking it was defective. Well it turns out the part has an internal thermostat that has to get cold to the right temperature in order to kick the icemaker on. They failed to leave out this very important bit of information. The common lay person would never know this. So don't send it back, give it 24hrs to work!

4.0 out of 5 stars good replacement icemaker with lots of connectors., January 17, 2009

When installing this replacement icemaker be sure to use a small level. If the icemaker is not level the water will overflow and make a mess. Yes I made the mistake so you wont!! The on/off arm is smaller and shaped differently than shown in the picture so I used the old on/off arm. The kit came with several different wire harnesses(4)and two tubes. I didn't need to replace the water tube. All in all this was easy to install and the best price that I found. The manufacture name on the box is Supco (Sealed Unit Parts Co. Inc.). Part name on box is RIM500 Modular icemaker service kit. Replaces: Whirpool 4317943, 978556, Maytag and subzero.

5.0 out of 5 stars Icemaker Replacement, August 12, 2009
This review is from: Refrigrator Automatic Ice Maker Kit (Kitchen)
The product was exactly what we needed. There was one little part missing, but we had it on our original unit. It is perfect for a replacement and about half price of a parts store. The parts guy actually told me how to check for it online. Glad I did!

5.0 out of 5 stars I HAVE ICE, November 5, 2009
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Refrigrator Automatic Ice Maker Kit (Kitchen)
I have a Whirlpool model GS6SHEXNS02 Side-by-Side Fridge with in door icemaker. I purchased the shown ice-maker. It arrived within a couple days as advertised. I removed my old ice maker, and swapped a couple parts onto the new unit. I then hooked it up, and plugged the fridge back in. New unit did not fill instantly, and I am kind of impatient, so I just primed it using a turkey baster, and about 4 to 6 ounces of water, and that was it. Within a couple hours the first load of ice dumped, and the unit refilled on its own. I came home today from work to a full ice bin. This was fantastic if you ask me. It definately beat a 150.00 service call only to find out I would have had to pay another 100.00 for the ice-maker to be replaced, or even worse having one small part replaced on an old unit for that price. As far as difficulty I would give it a 3 out of 10 on the install. If you can handle a nut driver, and a screw driver you are in business.

But guess what, for a mere extra $20 they offered to sell me one that looks just like the picture. This is an absolute bait and switch, false advertising, etc...Seller also would not authorize a return or refund. Buy at your own risk! Part number that arrived is W10190965, mfr is FSP. Again, not what was listed in the description....

The ice maker was the exact replacement for the unit that was in my Whirlpool refrigerator. It installed with no modifications and worked perfectly. I have had the new unit installed for 3 weeks now and I am very satisfied with this unit.

5.0 out of 5 stars Works very good!, September 1, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Refrigrator Automatic Ice Maker Kit (Kitchen)
Had to use the old wire that fed the old maker since the new wire didn't work after it sat in the fridge for 72 hours and didn't make a cube...

~NOTE: Make sure you let the ice maker sit for 24 hours before expecting ICE as the temp sensor will keep it from turning on.

I had emailed support after It didn't fire up after 3 days.

Support was good and also contains a nice sense of humor which is nice to see! :)

I like this maker better as it looks like the paint peel like the old one did.

After I replaced the wire, the thing throws out ice! Very good maker and I am satisfied with it.

5.0 out of 5 stars cheaper than a new fridge, December 22, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Refrigrator Automatic Ice Maker Kit (Kitchen)
I was ready to buy a new refrigerator since my old ice maker was leaking water and making icicles instead of cubes. Looked around at different options and found a great deal on this complete unit. Other places wanted $46 just for the control unit and this complete ice maker cost around $50. It was a good thing because the old unit's coating was peeling so it was completely shot. Easy installation, took about 10 minutes and makes lots of ice now.

1.0 out of 5 stars Ice maker does not work, December 11, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Refrigrator Automatic Ice Maker Kit (Kitchen)
I installed the new icemaker and it does make ice, but after it dumps the ice, the arm will not fully retract. It stops about two inches away. This stops the cycle of the icemaker. If I manually push the arm against the icemaker, it will finish that cycle and then stop again on the next cycle.
