The Breville IKON Die-Cast Hemisphere Blender is perfect for ice-crushing, blending and making your favorite smoothies or drinks. The patented hemisphere bowl blade system utilizes a large, semicircular shredding blade positioned to hug the uniquely shaped bowl. Because of this design, there are no still zones around the blades, and ingredients are shredded into fine, consistent particles. The 1.5 liter (51 oz.) glass jar is designed for clarity and to resist chipping and fogginess. The dual tone, baked enamel measurements provide for sharp viewing and accurate measurement. The control pad is designed without crevices for easy cleaning and gives you precise control over the motor's 750 watt, five speed settings and pulse function. It also features two special presets for ice crushing and smoothies and a blue backlit digital timer. All parts except the base are dishwasher safe.

This is my second Breville blender. The first lasted about a year and a half which is probably OK considering that we use it at least once a day every day. I liked it because it was powerful, fairly quiet, and nicely designed. There were a couple of little problems but Customer Support took care of those.
The second blender, which I bought this summer, started to leak between the glass jar and the metal cuff about six weeks after I bought it. I called Customer Support and the man I talked to wanted to charge me $40 for a new jar. I said that this was clearly a manufacturing defect so he said, "Meet us halfway. Send us pictures of the jar." So I e-mailed pictures of the jar with the problem area marked in red. Nothing happened. I called back and got a woman this time. She acted as though my pictures had been received but said they had to be evaluated and that she would call me the next day. No call. I called a third time, got a man who I'm pretty sure was the same one I'd talked to before, though he seemed not to have heard of any of this. He said that my pictures had not arrived and told me to re-send them, which I did. I also sent copies to myself, which got through just fine. Nothing happened.
This is a nice blender but basically you're buying it without a warranty. Fortunately we saved the jar from the first blender so we don't have to lay out $40 in order to use it.

After much research, when I finally decided to replace my old, noisy Waring blender, I ordered this reconditioned Breville XXBBL600XL. I found it on Best Buy for only $85 with shipping and tax. What a deal!
My only concern was that some of the reviews mentioned problems with leaks. But since I have another Breville appliance (a juicer) that's excellent, I decided to take the plunge.
When the blender arrived, I was pleasantly surprised to see how solid-looking, attractive, and substantial a machine this was. I added water to the jar, but my joy quickly turned to disappointment when I saw water dripping from the bottom of the container onto my counter. Uh oh. Had the other reviewers been right?
Well, my past experience with Breville was good. They had excellent customer service. So I called and explained the problem. The rep told me to remove the bottom and put the seal on with the jar upside down so it would seat properly. It was easy to do, and voila! The blender worked perfectly, and hasn't leaked since.
I'd recommend this blender to anyone looking for a quality machine at a ridiculously low price. It's the best blender I've ever owned -- quiet, powerful, attractive, and it works really well. The automatic turnoff function is a very cool bonus. And despite being "remanufactured", the machine looks brand new. I have a beautiful, $200 blender for less than half that price. Highly recommended!!

This is the best deal on the planet. We like ours so well we ordered another one for our vacation home. Mine showed up in good condition and it works great. We've been using ours every day for about 2 months now and it's the quietest blender I've ever heard which is a big plus. It looks fantastic and the remanfactured model makes it cheaper than blenders that are nowhere near the quality. This thing is HEAVY DUTY. it's way better built than my old Hamilton Beach.
I haven't had any leaks or any problems of any kind. I do use the little tool to tighten the bottom even though the directions say not to. I've seen their own presenter do the same thing on YouTube videos (you can search for them). Just a 1/8 turn is all it takes. Also, I don't disassemble it when I'm just using it for Smoothies. I just run it for a few seconds with some soapy water in it (the same way you clean other blenders that don't have pitchers that come apart) and then dry the inside with a towel.
It's been staying nice and clean that way and I think it's better for the Ptichers not to constantly take them apart and put them back together. Just some tips for anyone who might be experiencing any leaks or wants to prevent them from happening in the future.
