This is the 2nd zen for me (got 1st one (same as this one) at bestbuy for just over a 100buks in 2008 and it's still kickin like new). I opted this time for the refurbished from creative labs right here on amazon. It arrived in the time frame stated for free shipping. It came professionally packaged (suitable for gifting) and looked like new condition. It came with half a battery and worked exactly as it should have. I have played with and tested a lot of mp3/media players and creative zen holds strong for portability, sound, and durability (screen is gorillaglass). Although it's screen is bright and clear (very nice) it is a bit on the small side (2.4 inches) for viewing movies, unless the power is out or your stuck on a bus or waiting for a ride etc. Fortybuks was an awesome deal for this portable mp3/mini movie device and since a friend got my 1st one as a gift in december, I just had to get another...just can't skate without it. The price is simply great as you can always add sd memory, not to mention my htc phone charger works to charge this zen (charges much faster than the "usb method"). Very versatile, I like versatility. The software is good. Has a nice simple clean interface easy to operate like the player, you can drop and drag if like which I do but I use the the software to transfer my dvdmovies the zen format once they are converted you can save them all and drop n drag or copy n paste them too (makes them mp4's). The radio is excellent and like others, the headphones or external speakers must be plugged in as the cord works as the antena. Battery life is also pretty good, last me an entire day at work minus 30min lunch and 2 15 min breaks. Just can't go wrong in my opinion. This little zen has made life a little better since I got it over 3years ago. Thanks creative.

Had the 4gb black version for about 3-4 years. I think I paid $110 for it. Last week unfortunately it got put in the washing machine since it was in a pocket and it didn't make it. I loved it though. Much cheaper then the ipod and works just as well. I liked that I didn't have to install iTunes or anything like that. Windows Media files worked on it and using those files you could put a ton on it. Plus it had an SD slot so you could expand it more if needed. Just make sure you don't get water on it!

No issues whatsoever with the refurbished product. It's a good quality compact MP3/video/picture player. SD slot leaves lots of room for memory expansion and the player handles a variety of file formats.

Got this refurbished. Price was good and overall works well. My less than max rating is driven by a few irritations but this is overall a pretty good player.
I have only used it for photos and mostly MP3's so I can't comment on video capabilities. Photo display is good, crisp and vibrant. Sound quality is ok (I have not tried the headphones that came with it) but I am disappointed with the lack of volume with some books I have been listening to while out walking.
Ease of use is hampered by not backlighting the control buttons and the buttons being the same black color as the overall case. Very difficult to see the controls in low light. Tough to navigate to find a new file sometimes. Outlining the controls with light or at least making them a contrasting color to the case would have been better. The size of the unit is good for photo display but is a little big for just MP3 use, although it does fit into a shirt pocket. Some kind of clip would help. Putting the on/off switch and headphone jack on the same side of the player is a good design as well, especially if you stick it in your pocket. I think battery life is good even with a large display and I like that all the title, artist, time, battery status, etc is all visible without waiting for text to scroll. I'd say the display is the best feature of this unit. You can save the battery by dimming the display when you are not using the controls. I especially like that you can just add or delete files using standard Windows commands as I hate the synch software req'd by many players. I have not come close to the 4GB memory limit even with numerous books loaded at the same time.

It worked without a problem until day 91 of its existence in my hands. Then, for no reason it stopped working completely. I'm hoping Amazon's customer service will come through (it has a 90 day warranty. When working, it wasn't amazing, but not bad, and the SD feature is great. However, a product that cant hold up or work is worthless.

Great unit for audio books.Creative is a quality product,being refurb. just brings the price down. same quality.I have owned several no differance in new.

My refurbished Creative Zen Mp3 player is awesome! Such a bright and vibrant screen, pictures look great, sound is fantastic, and it holds my Audible books too!!! I am very happy with my purchase!!! I had a Creative Zen mp3 player in the past and lost it, I was happy with that model as well, but it did not have a screen or hold pictures nor was the sound so alive!!

Product arrived in excellent shape, refurbished by Creative w/ box and ancillary items. Looks brand new, loaded music and photos for my grandsons x-mas gift. I'm sure he'll enjoy.

I really like my new Zen player. :) This is the third player I have purchased from Creative and they are always great players and seem to have better features with each new evolution. I really like that this one has the memory card slot. I use the cards for my photos and movies.

The screen does scratch pretty easily, I dropped my glasses into my purse and scratched the front up pretty good. I would recommend screen covers or a little case. I had a case lying around the house, so mine is safe from reckless sunglasses attacks now.

The buttons take a little to get used to, but honestly, I use them without looking now, just had to get familiar with it. Too good a deal to pass up! Hope you enjoy if you buy one. :) I got mine for a about $40. ;)

Also, the computer software is super easy to use for this player, drag and drop style. The other two I owned required the software they came with to work, and they didn't always get recognized as a mp3 players. This one is a huge improvement. :)

I wanted an inexpensive Mp3 player just to take on vacation and use at the beach. My old reliable Sansa e250 finally went and thought I would give this one a try. The buttons on here are confusing and I'm not that wild about the menu screens either. Maybe I just need more time to get used to it. The sound and the battery life are pretty good. I wouldn't recommend it just for the fact that it's ease of use leaves much to be desired.
