5.0 out of 5 stars DeLonghi Convection Oven
This is a great deal! A $200.00 convection oven for around $70.00! I use it almost daily, makes great toast and I like to use it for reheating Pizza! I recently convection cooked a small 3lb. chicken, that, turned out great! I have had no problems with this convection oven. It's easy to use and keep clean. If you're looking for a great value, look no further!

1.0 out of 5 stars what goes around, comes around
Refurbished DeLonghi AD699S Convection Oven 6 Slice Capacity

I bought this oven (which I now think is actually model AD679 because the handle is located on the side of the door instead of on the front) through Amazon Marketplace. It was described as being "Used/Like New". It arrived DOA. I re-read the review by Henry Cross, November 5, 2007 ("DeLonghi did not...

I also ordered this. So far, it's been working great. Everything comes out perfectly even. It includes some pretty useful little baking sheets too. The chrome does pick up finger prints like a magnet. Haven't tried some of the more useless features (such as the dehydrator that requires something that's not included), but otherwise, it's great. Hopefully it'll last. I'll be sure to update if it winds up crapping out on me. Till then, I think it's a great product at a very reasonable price.

Update: The oven is still working great. No problems at all. Still lots of evenly cooked food thanks to the convection fan. Mmmmm.

5.0 out of 5 stars After long search, THE little oven, December 30, 2007
This review is from: Refurbished DeLonghi AD699S Convection Oven 6 Slice Capacity (Kitchen)
I searched many months for the ideal oven. I purchased this refurbished which came in tip top shape! I wanted convection (fan/bake) and just bake options. I wanted real oven racks, not the thin wiry kind often found in little ovens. This oven also came with 2 special cookie sheets, broiler pan and the very solid racks. The convection is very quiet basically silent. The warning ring is a gentle PING, not jarring. The countdown timer only shows minutes remaining not seconds, but that is not a big deal. Oven temp increments are by 25 degrees. While cooking, the oven light goes on which I love. Toasting options are easily adjustable. Like all little ovens, there's a learning curve for adjusting oven temps from recipes. Outstanding directions came with the oven.

The oven cooks great in all modes. I RARELY use the big oven now except for the big turkey.

Suggestion: I have just purchased from estore.fox-international.com the pizza stone, hand grip, and Durastone pan that go with this oven. I found that the oven racks desperately need the hand grip ($6) to pull the hot racks out from the oven. Also, I purchased an insulated metal hot plate pad from Solutions.com to fit underneath the oven just in case the heat might harm our countertop (tho I found no evidence of heat underneath).

I ordered this refurb, and got what appeared to be a good oven until I toasted a slice of bread and discovered that the bottom heating element didn't work at all. The replacement box arrived pretty banged up from shipment, and the oven was indeed broken with a few loose pieces inside the box. Bad luck. Amazon decoded to let me try again, and the oven that arrived (by UPS Next Day) was in fine shape and works well. So definitely a bit of work, but ultimately this seems to have worked out well. The enamel baking pan and boiling pan (also good for toasting nuts) is a nice feature -- better than bare aluminum certainly.

5.0 out of 5 stars So Far So Good, Airstream model is the best toaster oven ever, January 22, 2008

As testimony to the "airstream" model, I bought this refurb to replace an identical toaster oven that after 7 years of daily use has finally started to smell like melting paint. I have to admit I was apprehensive about what I would replace my beloved toaster oven with, since i use it twice or more a day and love absolutely everything about this oven model. And then SHAZAAM! the opportunity for a do-over in the form of an identical supercheap refurb oven. I got this a week ago and put it through some rigor just to make sure everything works- it does. I am still keeping the failing one as a backup just in case. I get anxious at the thought of having to replace this because i know i could not love any oven as much. seriously LOVE. it's sad. i hope i did not jinx it with this review. crud- maybe i should buy another one, just in case.

It was described as being "Used/Like New". It arrived DOA. I re-read the review by Henry Cross, November 5, 2007 ("DeLonghi did not last "Long" at all!") and I suspect I received the very same oven that he returned -- it is as he described and there is an Amazon return sticker on the side of the box. I got a prompt refund, but unless we can fix the oven this has been a big waste of time and effort (plus I'm now VERY wary of any of the claims made on Amazon's website). What's the deal, anyway?

5.0 out of 5 stars powerful little oven, April 21, 2008
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Refurbished DeLonghi AD699S Convection Oven 6 Slice Capacity (Kitchen)
The oven is very spacious inside, can fit a small chicken. The double deck inside allows me to toast almost 12 slice at a time. It also comes with a bunch of accessories like 2 cookie sheets and trays etc. There is also a tray at the bottom to catch all the spillage and crumbs making it easier to clean.

As for performance, it works great. The convection feature makes baking time a lot faster. The only drawback is you have to figure out how much baking time to reduce by or you will over bake.

We bought it on sale. Only drawback is that the surface is hot when it is working. Be cautious if you have kids. Other than that, great product.

I thought it was a bargain ($30ish) for a refurbished convection oven, but I was way wrong. It's a defective oven, not refurbished. Dents all over in the back and defective door not shut all the way, leaving a big airgap at the right. No matter how I adjust the door, it will still leave a gap where heat would be escaping while cooking. Amazon didn't replace mine because they were out of stock. Now, it seems that this item is back in stock at a much higher price. It's probably the one I just returned, so I will never buy refurbished from Amazon again.

5.0 out of 5 stars great refurb, March 10, 2008

I got this very same model brand new 6 years ago for $200. It recently broke. I did not like the newer models very much, so I decided to try the refurb of the one that I loved. It has been about two months now, and it works great! Everything looked brand new. I even got all brand new trays to go in it. I would have never guessed this was a refurb product. Came brand new in a new Delonghi box.
I read the reviews about people saying their's came damaged, but I would have to say that it sounds like a UPS or USPS problem. Not a delonghi problem.
