Product Description

From the Manufacturer

In a pleasingly portable package, the DiMAGE G530 offers 3x optical zoom and many other features for high-quality digital photography. This camera is so slim (only 23.0 mm/0.9 inches) and so light (145 grams/5.1 ounces) that you can slip it into your pocket to carry around with you at all times. The DiMAGE G530's 5.0 megapixel CCD sensor produces detail-rich images which will look stunning as large-size printsÑyou'll be able to enlarge your photos up to A3 size at 150 dpi printer resolution. Of course, if you're going to carry a digital camera, you want it to look good. No problem with the DiMAGE G530. Its stainless steel and aluminum body exterior gives it a classy appearance that's appropriate for even the most formal occasions.

Responds rapidly to ensure comfortable use You'll never miss a moment because the DiMAGE G530 is ready to shoot when you areÑstartup time is amazingly short, approx. 0.8 seconds after you slide open the lens cover. To focus, you simply press the shutter button halfway and the camera's rapid autofocusing is done in approx. 0.25 seconds only. Then press the shutter button all the way and you've captured your image, without even noticing the 0.03 second shutter release time lag. Such stress-free operation is made possible by the camera's exclusive, high-speed Signal Processing Engine.

True-to-life colors from Hybrid Adaptive A*IPS Hybrid Adaptive A*IPS (pronounced "A-star-IPS") is an exclusive image processing technology that works to reproduce remarkably faithful colors on each shot. The moment you press the shutter button, A*IPS gathers various data directly from the CCD sensor and uses an advanced algorithm to optimize exposure, focusing, and white balance. Capturing beautiful images couldn't be easier.

GT HEXANON Lens with 3x optical zoom The DiMAGE G530 also boasts a wide shooting range thanks to the 3x optical zoom of its GT HEXANON Lens, which offers strikingly clear images at all focal lengths. This lens has a special coating that suppresses flare and image distortion, so you can expect great results with portraits, landscapes, and other types of images. Optical zoom range is the equivalent of 34 to 102 mm on a 35mm film camera. And if you ever need to extend your reach a bit farther, you can use digital zoom to boost your total zoom range to 6x or 9x.

Impressive macro images Two macro modes enable you to capture stunning close-ups of flowers and other small objects. The Macro mode gets you as close as 5 cm (2 inches) for wide-angle shots or as close as 50 cm (19.7 inches) during telephoto shooting. Another mode, Super Macro, lets you put the front of the lens as close as 20 cm (7.9 inches) from your subject, even at telephoto position.

Versatile flash modes Five flash settings are available: auto, auto with red-eye reduction, fill-flash, fill-flash with red-eye reduction, and flash cancel. Each flash mode has its own range of selectable shutter speeds, which can be useful in various situations: for example, if you want to capture more of the background in a nighttime portrait.

Exposure compensation and auto bracketing Exposure compensation lets you brighten or darken the image within a range of +/-2.0 Ev (in 1/3 Ev steps). Furthermore, if you don't want to take any chances, you can use auto exposure bracketing to produce three images for each shot: the main image plus slightly over and under exposed variations. There is also an auto bracketing function for focusing, which is ideal for macro images and other subjects that require precise focusing.

Fixed focus for challenging subjects To better handle factors such as moving subjects, dim lighting or strong backlighting, you can fix the distance of focusing to one of four settings: 0.8 meters (2.6 feet), 1.2 meters (3.9 feet), 2.5 meters (8.2 feet), or infinity.

Selectable exposure modes Three exposure modes are provided for flexibility. With Programmed AE, the camera automatically adjusts aperture and shutter speed settings. Aperture Priority AE allows you to change the aperture setting manually. And for further creative control, the Manual Mode gives you two aperture settings (F2.8 or F4.7) and control over shutter speed from 1/1000 to 15 seconds. To ensure clearer results from long exposures, noise reduction is automatically activated if shutter speed is 1/2 second or longer.

Extra-long movie recording When the situation calls for more than a still shot, switch modes and record a digital movie clip instead. The DiMAGE G530 can continue recording until its memory card is full, so if you use a high-capacity card you'll be able to record extra-long clips. Sound is included.

Audio captions and voice recording The DiMAGE G530 lets you record audio on its own as well. You can add audio captions to your images to remind yourself when and where you took them, or use the camera as a portable voice recorder.

Capture more images per charge The camera's power source is a rechargeable lithium-ion battery (NP-600), which offers higher performance than conventional alkaline batteriesÑup to 185 images on a single charge. A battery charger is included as a standard accessory.

Accepts SD Memory Cards and Memory Sticks The DiMAGE G530 is equipped with two memory card slots: one for SD Memory Cards, one for Memory Sticks. By inserting both types at the same time, you can boost your shooting capacity. Also, you can copy images from one card to the other, which is useful when you want to use pictures with your other digital devices.

PictBridge, the easiest way to great prints PictBridge enables you to get prints of your digital photos with ease. No computer connection is required. You just connect the DiMAGE G530 directly to a PictBridge-compatible printer and use the camera's LCD monitor to make settings.

Warranty: Remanufactured to "like-new" condition. 90 Day Warranty provided by Benji Electronics

This review is from: Refurbished Minolta Dimage G530 5MP Slim Digital Camera (Electronics)
I can't say enough good things about this camera. It takes GREAT pictures. The auto focus is super fast and accurate. The construction is solid and well built. I was hesitant about buying a refurbished camera, but mine looked and worked like a brand new camera. It's light and compact and a joy to use with excellent results. Outdoor daytime photos are superb! (even in the rain or overcast conditions) Night photos using flash are not so hot. Minolta has stoped selling digital cameras in the USA, so I doubt wether you can get it repaired if you damage it. I also own a Kodak 7490 (another excellent camera) But I use the Minolta alot for the quickie shot that I would have otherwise missed with my Kodak. Carry it in your pocket and just whip it out. The all glass auto retractable lens are protected by it's slideing front cover. Don't be afraid to buy this camera. You won't be dissapointed.
