This review is from: Jewel of the Night (Historical Romance) (Paperback)
From back of book:Judith Wyatt has always concealed the tragedy behind her flight from India. Plain and impoverished, she is flattered to be invited to her friend's estate at Greenwich. There, she finds an affinity with Captain Jordan Grant, who reawakens in her the dark corners of her past. Captain Grant is in perilous danger. After returning from military service in India, he is pursued by two ruthless enemies for the treasure he carries. When Judith becomes entangled in their plot, Jordan sees her as an added burden. But then he discovers the truth of her childhood and the courageous, sensual woman she has become - and soon Jordan wonders whether he hasn't found the most priceless jewel of all . . . . This story is not just a love story but has twists and turns throughout with mysteries, abductions, betrayals and friendships that will last a lifetime. It is long enough to be interesting but no so long as to bore. Jordan can be stern at times but likeable. Judith is very young but mature for her age. The villians are evil and dangerous and the tricks and betrayal of a woman scorned is beyond anything done in polite society. This is a good read. |
