4.0 out of 5 stars This is actually kinda cool., June 19, 2006
This review is from: The Regenerated Man [VHS] (VHS Tape)
So some scientist guy becomes the "Regenerated Man" when two dimwitted robbers mix a bunch of chemicals and poured it down his throat when they got pissed about not finding any gold. From there on he becomes the powerful monster, "Regenerated Man" at night (like a werewolf), and kills people by shooting them with his fingernails and bones (not like a werewolf). They literally launch from him like bullets. The special effects are amazing, pretty bloody and has that slimy mutant flesh look, I can't say the same about the huge embarassing CG monster in the end that makes Atari 10 B.C. look like Playstation 5000. Apparently the same CG program that created it was the same one used for the dinosaurs in Jurassic Park, mind boggling eh? The movie spends a lot of time on hokey-pokey ridiculous sci-fi pondering, a bald black dude detective trying to solve murders, and a romantic relationship (the woman had nice boobs and we do see them, yay) when there aren't any action scenes. Still a very watchable movie with enough subtle humor and colorful characters in the script to keep it from being dull during the non-monster parts. One of the actors from Nightbeast and Alien Factor is there, he dies a gruesome death that involves sucking. Best scene is when these two mobsters get killed though, one of them sounded like a skinny Joe Pesci, he rules! This is like a lower budget Toxic Avenger meets Dr. Jekyl/Mr. Hyde's story, meets a bad Full Moon production (it's not by Full Moon but looks like it, I'm not the only who thinks this too).
