A serendiptitous finding....,

This review is from: Reggae Greats (Audio CD)
Let me say up front I do not "get" Black Uhuru...but this album is a nice overview of their best albums featuring their best line-up (which includes Sly & Robbie). The "Reggae Greats" series from Mango records looks hokey at first but after cross referencing the track listing with other "essential recordings" lists I came across, I have to give kudos to the people behind this series of recordings. (I also have their Sly/Robbie and Lee Perry collections.) If you wanna try one album of theirs, this is the one to get. Hardcore fans probably see this album merely as a "greatest hits" and I guess it is..but the tracks contained here in are regarded as essential to Black Uhuru..despite my not "getting" it. For this reason I gave it 5 stars for content and track selection. The "Reggae Greats" series by Mango records is distinguihed from the pack by their thoughtful track selections.
