5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent, Readable, and Nice Typeface, Too May 28, 2011
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
This is a collection of essays covering the period roughly from 1614 up to, of course, 1789. The authors are each able writers with a firm grasp of the aspect of Ancien Regime history they are covering. The chapter on France's overseas possessions was particularly illuminating, and it's not as if I haven't read histories of this period before. No less than one would expect from OUP; I hope more of this series is Kindleized soon. Certainly worth the price, particularly now that it seems to have dropped about $5 from where it was before.
