This box set collects four out-of-print CDs: George Best, Tommy, Saturnalia and Mini. The first two were some of the Wedding Present's first releases in the mid- to late 80's. This material is frenetic with very fast tempos and jangly guitars, sounding like a more punk cousin of the Smiths. The lyrics are among some of the most bitter "loved and lost" lyrics I've ever encountered, but with a lot of humor. The last two CDs were the bands' last few releases in the mid-90s. These CDs are highly underrated modern pop, with "Montreal" on Saturnalia being a stand-out. This is a limited edition of 1,000 and all these releases are out-of-print, so get this while you still can, it's a great introduction to the group.
