Berry Elementary Critics Review-Appleton, WI,
By A Customer
This review is from: Regular Guy (Paperback)
Our 5th and 6th graders enjoyed the book "Regular Guy" because of its bizzare humor and funny situations like being switched at birth, Buzz and Guy thought Bob-O was dead because he was covered in icing on the couch, Bob-O smelling like fish balls, Guy's father showing people the "oyster trick", and Buzz attacking Guy's mom because he thinks Guy is dead. This book sparked interest in reading other books with the same theme. Thanks for the laughs.5th and 6th graders at Janet Berry

Regular Guy,
A Kid's Review
This review is from: Regular Guy (Paperback)
This book was written by Sarah Weeks. It is a good book about a boy named Guy, who thinks he got switched at birth with a nerdy boy named Bob-o. I think it's a good book because it's exiting,a little gross and, funny. I have read other guy books like, Guy Time, My Guy and, Guy Wire. I loved all of them!
In this book Guy thinks his mom is going to kill him, because she has a knife in her hand but she is really going to cut a cake.

You can be weird in many ways,
A Kid's Review
This review is from: Regular Guy (Library Binding)
We enjoyed this book, and thought it was very funny. Ourlibrarian read it aloud to us; some of us would read it again on our own! Guy, the main character, is average, but thinks his parents are very weird. He and his best friend, Buzz, come up with the idea that Guy may not be in the right family, imagining that he was switched at birth. The boy they believe belongs in Guy's family, Bob-o, is weird (with lots of gross habits). Meanwhile, Bob-o's parents seem normal. Guy discovers, though, that people can be weird in different ways...

Guy's parents are embarrassing! They don't look or act likehim, so he comes to the logical conclusion: he was switched at birth. The comical story unfolds as Guy and his creative buddy, Buzz, attempt to learn the truth. Readers discover the importance of parental influence while exploring character traits of creativity, imagination, perserverance, and compassion.

Can't keep enough of them in the library,

Our students are loving both of Weeks' books about "Guy." Guy Time and Regular Guy are the titles. I can't keep them on the shelves. When I read them I realized why. These books sound just the way students aged 10-15 think, talk and act. In fact, not a week goes by that someone doesn't come in and ask for the 3rd one--My Guy. We can't wait to find out what is going to happen to Guy next.

A Kid's Review
This review is from: Regular Guy (Paperback)
The name of my book is Regular Guy. My book takes place in this boy named Guy house. But it mostly takes place outside. The problem in my book is that he think he has been switched at birth this boy named Bob-o. The problem got solved by guy and his friend Buzz they asked Bob-o did he get switched at birth he said he don't know. Guy asked bob-o parents did there child get switched they said yes.So all them toke a d.n.a test. Guy was bob-o parents son and bob-o was guy parents son. The plot of my story is this boy named guy he think that he got switched at birth with another boy named bob-o.

Regular Guy
Sarah Weeks Regular guy was a very fun and exciting book. It's about a boy who thinks he was switched at birth because his parents are weird. Guy is the main character with Bobo, which is the boy who he thinks he was switched with because they act like each others parents. Guy and Buzz go and investigate the case. They watch Bobo and his family to see what they are doing. I liked how they all worked together to find out if they were with the wrong people. I didn't like the fact that the parents invaded their son's privacy and how they acted so weird. I would say this book is mainly for children and some adults. It shows how some people feel as though they don't belong with who they live. Also, how they feel as though they should be with some one else even though they are with the right people who love and care for them.

Cute but derivative,
By
This review is from: Regular Guy (Paperback)
Okay, the average kid never read Spy Magazine, but a lot of us did, and this book is so derivative of the old Separated at Birth feature, not to mention the similar Marvin Redpost title (by Louis Sachar) that it seems a bit of a ripoff. Likewise, what kid narrator ever used the phrase "accomplished classical pianist" to describe a party guest? On the other hand, it's clever and funny and sends all the right messages about family and inclusion.
