Book Description

June 1, 1992
For engineers, technicians and hobbyists involved in the design, testing and implementation of regulated power supplies, this fourth edition is revised to include up-to-date guidance for building regulated power supplies. The author provides full coverage of standard power supply sources now found in the majority of applications. He also describes how new high frequency devices such as the insulated-gate bipolar transistor (IGBT), the mos-controlled thyristor (MCT), and current- and resonant-mode regulators have reduced production costs and improved power supply efficiency and reliability.

5.0 out of 5 stars One of the Best, June 8, 2002
By A Customer
I found this to be one of the best books I've read on power supplies. This book is articulately written, very technical in nature, and loaded with great circuit diagrams and descriptions. There isn't a wasted word in it.

The "Stacked Switching Regulator" starting on page 392 along with Figs. 7-13 and 7-14 is an example of the outstanding circuits shown and described in this book. This is also true for the "Off-Line 5-V 200 A Switching Supply" starting on page 406.

I found the Dissipation Control Circuit in Fig. 4-6 quite unique.

Mr. Gottlieb has presented us with another outstanding piece of work.
