Julia Carroll is the Reiki Master who initiated me into Reiki over fifteen years ago. Her powerful classes provided the foundation for my understanding the laws of healing that function on a non-physical level...and yet produce amazing physical results.
In this concise and well-documented handbook, Julia explains not only Reiki Touch, but introduces the newest members of the family of "energy/spiritual healing," Healing Touch and Therapeutic Touch. Both are credible additions to the family with solid medical credentials, impressive resumes, published articles in complementary and integrative medicine journals and leading-edge research.
For those of us wrestling with traditional medical systems and trying to establish the credibility of these new "old" modalities, this book is an outstanding tool to communicate "the facts" to those decision-makers needing proof,research and results. This book is "the blazing six-gun" you want to have by your side when preparing for those important meetings with traditional thinkers. It is also the guidebook you want to follow when building your own clinical trials in various non-traditional modalities..(See the section Research in Alternative Touch Therapies).
I especially enjoyed reading the curriculum and research associated with each modality and developed a greater appreciation of the similarities and differences between them. So often we alternative healing practitioners are asked to explain the differences between one system and another. This reference guide makes that easy.
Julia, thank you for once again telling the inspirational "story" of
Dr. Usui's life. We can never sufficiently honor the great ones who have blazed the trail for us. Their perserverance and humanity gives me courage on my own healing journey.
Finally, I appreciate the ethical codes so beautifully articulated by each modality. They serve as beacons of light in our relationship with clients and each other. They remind me of the importance of protecting both the spiritual roots and the physical methods of each of our disciplines.

Reiki Master Julia Carroll has done an exceptionally great work with co-authoring this book on Reiki with other healing modalities. She truly has a worthy book and I highly recommended it for those studing the healing arts. Having been in the nursing profession for over 45 years the research on the healing modalities will support that energy healing does happen for the non-believer. I encourage those new and us who have been in the profession to examine this book. You will not be disapponted.
