This Video "Reiki Universal Life Force Energy" can be used as a teaching aid for Reiki teachers in class to show to their Reiki 2 students after they have completed their Reiki programme.

It presents a different approach of Reiki teaching and students can compare and contrast the different techniques from a different Reiki Master.

The Video begins by explaining briefly what Reiki is all about and how it is related to nature. It also touches briefly on the history of Reiki.

The Reiki Master in a peaceful Japanese theme background explains the different hands-on-position of Reiki in detail. She discusses the 7 main chakras (energy centers) e.g. crown chakra, brow chakra, throat chakra, heart chakra, soler plexius chakra, sacral and base chakras in relation to its subtle attributes, color, sound and shapes. The healing techniques and its relation to the various endocrine glands are also mentioned.

The symbolism and significance of Reiki are also briefly explained. It is good that the author did not include the actual Reiki Symbols in this tape, otherwise, it may be misinterpreted by people who have not been attuned to the Reiki Symbols by the Reiki Masters.

Again, I would like to mention that this tape is useful as an additional teaching aid for Reiki teachers and students to view as a summary of what they have learnt in class. However, it should not be used as a replacement for actual imparting of Reiki knowledge from a Reiki Master to a student.

When she was diagnosed with lymphatic cancer more than twenty years ago, Merle Sunde decided to dedicate herself to learning alternative therapies that would enhance self-healing. Now a renowned therapist and teacher, she gives here an overview of Reiki and demonstrates how hand placements direct universal energy. Reiki Universal Life Force Energy is a nicely crafted and clearly presented demonstration of an ancient healing art.

I rented this at my library. I have already taken Reiki I & II.
This was about 45 min long, low-budget, but good information. It is Merle Sunde mostly set in a room treating someone as she gives great info. She gives off a very loving, calm feeling & she gave the most detailed, most realistic about how Reiki was founded. She also gives a short amount of info about symbols in human history & that it's interesting that some of the same symbols have been used by almost all cultures. The two she shows are a swirl & lighting that is the basis of the power & dumo symbol.
As she shows the hand positions, she tells you what chakras, colors, organs, glands, emotions, life issues that area corresponds. She wasn't boring, but most of this info is best when in a book to look up. This info would fit in a chapter or two in a book. As Mary Lian said, this is supplemental info to a real class.
If you need video to remember hand positions by visual & plan to watch this over & over to remember & coorespond with the information she gives, this is for you.
If you're looking for more information about energy healing, try Diane Stein's VHS. (Though Diane is a bit more into Goddess ideas & the idea women are superior then men in terms of healing, though that subtle hint can be ignored since everyone is equal in their potential for anything in life).

I remember viewing this tape more than a decade ago and used it in all of my Reiki training sessions. I actually wore out my first copy and purchased another copy to take its place. A lot has changed since I purchased that first copy. The history of Reiki as explained in the tape is no longer valid. The sound quality of the tape itself is very bad. But all other things aside. I love how she does her hand positions and the chakra image. I still use the tape in my classes here and there but I always have to remind the students to over look the history and tape quality. It is definitely a keeper for me though, flaws and all.
