I'm Really Trying to Like This...Really I Am...,

Sometimes what they say is true and a band's first album is really their best work. While Kinky's self-titled first release was a non-stop sexy Latin techno dance party from beginning to end, this album is just full of sounds I'm already tired of. I really don't need to hear the Talking Heads all over again or Technotronic for that matter. I've had this CD in rotation in my car for months and short of really liking the opening track, Sister Twisted, and the haunting Adonde Van Los Muertos (Where Do The Dead Go), the rest is almost work to listen through. This CD is taking a long time to grow on me.

I bought this album about three weeks ago at a concert and instantly felt the energy. This is unlike Kinky and Atlas, but it is a good album. You should definately give it a try.

A little techno, a little...B52s?!,

While their debut, "Kinky" was all about the danceable techno and their sophmore disc (my favorite, "Atlas") triumphed in infectious, highly melodic pop (lots of it in English) their third spin takes them in both those directions, and then some. After a few tight electrojams and some balladic musings, it's a free-for-all of chronologic and ethnic influences, from 80's quirk bands, The B52s and Men at Work (whose lead singer Colin Hay guests on "Monday Killer" to goose-pimpling effect!), to 90's hard-core femme rapper Nefertiti who engages in a call-and-response-rap with the lead singer on "Lay Back." "Queen (Reina)" is another marvel from the Mexican Talking Heads!

This is a killer album, sounds great, reminds me of actually being at a Kinky show, the energy is amazing. The songs are hooky and upbeat, highly recommend this one, especially Sister Twisted, Linea de Luz and Nothing Really....Excelente trabajo!

This album from Kinky is far most one of Kinky's BEST work up to now. I was not much of an electric type of music person but this album just gets you hooked, and seeing them live, my good, you will become a Kinky fan as a fact. They have SO MUCH energy, that you cant help but be jumping all the through the concert!

I can not agree with all these reviewers here, I only liked 4 tracks on this CD the R&B styled Sister Twisted & I Say Hey, and the more Acid styled Again and So On & How Do They Do That. Considering that this CD has 12 tracks, 4 out of 12 is still a good CD in my book, and those 4 tracks left me wanting more Kinky, so I am here purchasing Kinky their first release. Got my fingers crossed for maybe 5 good ones.

I've gotta say, these guys remind me of a cross between global lounge music and the Clash, circa Combat Rock. Even a touch of Italian pop in there. Truly international rock, and pretty' hip at that.

I haven't had much chance to have this on as anything other than background music but I've nejoyed all I've heard. Also, I dj at a bar in Buffalo and the crowd loves the "Sister Twisted" and "A Donde Van Los Meurtos" tracks.
