2.0 out of 5 stars Mostly Mediocre June 19, 2013
By Morski
Format:MP3 Music
While a number of the songs have a reggae-style background beat, this really didn't strike me as a reggae album. It also comes across as more-than-a-little overproduced. Authentic reggae, in my mind, is exemplified by Marley, Tosh and Black Uhuru.

The fact that the last track on this album features Miley Cyrus (who can't sing worth a darn) is a testament to just how much Snoop has sold out to the record companies.

It takes more than a vacation trip to Jamaica to fully get the culture and the pacing of their lyrics. Maybe the next one will be better.

5.0 out of 5 stars Took some getting used to but, its worth the buy June 25, 2013
Format:Audio CD|Verified Purchase
I support Snoop. No matter what his name is. The name doesn't make the person, the person makes the name.

I will keep this short and sweet. I do love the album because it is different and unique. It is not about killing and shooting, etc.

Snoop actually had some left over material from this album that included songs with T.I., that did have negative lyrics, but it did not make the final cut, which I am happy for. Reincarnated is a good title, because it is a new direction for Snoop Lion. I give it a 9 out of ten, because the lyrics are good, but one of the songs, I just can't stand the beat lol, but that is just my opinion. The Ashtray song is a great song once you sit back and listen to the lyrics, close your eyes, 420 if you do that, and enjoy the beat and the mood it puts you in.

Snoop Lion has grown, and this album shows. Most artist are afraid to try something else, and I was afraid to buy this CD, but I did and I am glad I did.

Takes some getting used to, but once the music grew on me, I have kept it in my rotation in my CD players.

4.0 out of 5 stars One Luv! August 6, 2013

I love Snoop and it's nice to see his transition from gangsters rapper to understanding that we are all connected by
our need to be loved. The only way for that to occur is for us is to give love.

Snoop Lion, much respect given. He actually went to Jamaica and walked and talked with the brethren. A great first for him. Now let's see if he will stay with the message of peace, love, and the struggle. Jah Rastafari.

3.0 out of 5 stars Snoop Lion and RCA Records Plays It Safe- 6/10 December 8, 2013
Format:Audio CD
Although I do respect Snoop Dogg aka Snoop Lion for going into new territories with music, I believe that this album isn't as good as it could have been. For one thing I agree with other reviewers that say that this album is over produced. Couple that with Snoop's faux Jamacian accent, and this album becomes a tedious listen. I understand that this is first time trying the whole reggae-pop idea (keep in mind Snoop has ventured into other genres with not much success. Remember a few years ago he auto-tune sung "Sensual Seduction" and the Country song "My Medicine"?) I think that it's safe to say that the people who were waiting to hear was not expecting a reincarnation of Bob Marley, or Peter Tosh, or any other popular reggae singer back in the day. When I grabbed this CD in stores and looked on the back cover, a red flag popped up:

1. I believe that if you are going to do a reggae album like this, it should strictly be reggae. Why have artists like Drake (I'm sorry but he has trouble staying on beat on "No Guns Allowed"), Chris Brown, and even Miley Cyrus appear on here. Yes other reggae artists have had people like them on here, but they been known for doing that with the genre. Snoop has not gotten to that level yet with the reggae yet.

2. While Snoop is easily accessable nowadays with his largely extened fanbase, you can expect those execs at RCA to tell him to make a handfull of songs that will crack the Billboard Charts. That might explain why Major Lazer (also an easy accessable reggae-pop group) were executive producers of the album and produced the majority of the album.

5.0 out of 5 stars Found Himself August 30, 2013

I love the album and the fact that he has grown up, found himself, and became the man he was destined to be. The music is personal to him and positive; that's all that matters in the end. Snoop fan for life!
