This review is from: Reincarnation & Immortality (Paperback)
"The soul is never born, nor does it die, nor once having been does it go into non-being. The soul is unborn, eternal, changeless. The dweller in the body of every man is indestructible." These are words from the Bhagavad Gita, and it is in this style that the author explains. The chapters are: (1) Life hereafter (2) Karma and fate (3) Harvest field of life (4) Law of our destiny (5) Overcoming fear of death (6) Reincarnation and immortality. The ending words are the author's, "If we can only remember that our life is not an accident, a mere chance, but for a definite mission, ordained to us by the Supreme Power, and that as we are consciously and constantly able to ally ourselves with that Power, then are we freed from the rounds of birth and death, disease and calamity, and thus our soul shall attain its final beatitude." Swami Paramananda (1884- 1940) was only 22 years old when he came to America from India in 1906. He founded the Vedanta Centre of Boston and stayed over 30 years until his passing in 1940. He was a brother monk to the great Swami Vivekananda of the Ramakrishna Order. |
