5.0 out of 5 stars A Chill-Out Album For The Holidays
You knew this was coming, didn't you...a Christmas chillout selection. You know that it's a brave step when a label steps up to the plate to attempt to meet the challenge.

3.0 out of 5 stars OK, but really not my style
This tends to be mellow instrumental Christmas music, and starts out really slow, with a put-you-to-sleep start. It is in sharp contrast to Putumayo's New Orleans Christmas (reviewed separately) which is upbeat music with a wake-you-up start.

This CD is OK, but not one I would call great. It seems more designed as background music. The CD has 14...

4.0 out of 5 stars Something new for Christmas, December 26, 2002

They were playing this in a store where I was Christmas shopping this month. I liked it enough to track down the manager and ask him to find out what it was. Unlike another reviewer, I've played it in both my laptop and in the big PC with the fancy speakers and it played just fine. It's spent more time in my car though and I think it will continue in there once the season is over. It's been a big hit with the teenage crowd in the family and we're tracking down more music like this now.

You knew this was coming, didn't you...a Christmas chillout selection. You know that it's a brave step when a label steps up to the plate to attempt to meet the challenge.

Well Florida-based label Kriztal steps up to the plate and scores a home run with "The Reindeer Room," a collection of both classic and original holiday tunes put forth from some of the brightest artists in the downtempo scene. These tunes are fresh takes on the classics that we all have had to put up with year-after-year-after-year.

Hide those other Yuletide tiredness (okay, except maybe "A Charlie Brown Christmas") and go for different. "The Reindeer Room" brings out the "chill" in Christmas in a very good way.

I heard this CD yesterday in a stationery shop and was immediately taken with it - I went on a mission and found it at a local shop and have been playing it ever since. I'm pretty much a traditionalist and I'm not a huge chillout fanatic but I have my share of Cafe del Mar CDs and I LOVE this CD. There are enough sample tracks to listen to it if you aren't sure and don't want to take my word for it, so what are you waiting for?

4.0 out of 5 stars Good enough to listen all year round!, January 18, 2007
This review is from: The Reindeer Room: A Christmas Chillout (Audio CD)
This is a great CD overall. A couple of tracks that I skip over but the rest are great. There are even 2 or 3 that I still listen too long after Christmas b/c they do not smack of Christmas specifically. My favourite is Christmas is Here (War is Over).

I plan to add Reindeer Room II to my collection this year!

4.0 out of 5 stars to survive the Christmas season w/o all the sugar-coating..., December 21, 2002

Being a fan of the OmLounge series of discs, I was naturally drawn to this sound when I heard it in my local small bakery one morning. If you are, like me, someone who has had it up to 'here' with the gooey Christmas sound that we are generally forced to endure year after year, this is a refreshing slice of the season. While we all might have good memories of some of the tunes from when we were little..they've been recycled a few too many times in the usual format. However, this album gives you many of them, but with a techo or latin-flavored 'lounge'-mellow mix. Can't say I'm thrilled with every single hit: don't much care for their version of 'Silent Night', but I think I'll be able to survive this a few more years of "the holiday season" in the "Reindeer Room".

I just bought this over the weekend and I was totally blown away by the originality of the music. Finally a fresh approach to holiday music. Also, it played in my PC with no problems.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Collection, December 4, 2007
All 3 of the Reigndeer Room CD's are great! I was looking for something a little more eclectic than traditional Christmas Music.....and these hit the spot.

Of all my remixed holiday music CDs, I love this one the best. Every song is a winner and I can't say that very often!

This CD is OK, but not one I would call great. It seems more designed as background music. The CD has 14 selections. The intro inside the cover is white lettering on a pale green background (not a good choice - I prefer not to squint trying to read something). I will keep this one, but will not buy the other CDs in the series.

3.0 out of 5 stars Not a bad CD but don't expect it to work on your PC, October 15, 2002
This review is from: The Reindeer Room: A Christmas Chillout (Audio CD)
This is a unique cd featuring some great chill-out versions of some holiday faves. The stand-out tracks are: Little Drummer Boy, Jingle Bells and A Child Is Born. There's also a bonus track of The Christmas Song. The Liner notes claim that they aren't able to divulge the names of the artists but that these guys have been around the downtempo and chillout scene for some time. Personally, I recommend the album. Technically, I think it's a load of cr@p when record companies purposely defect the CD so that you can't listen to it on a computer....
