4.0 out of 5 stars satirical literary historical romance
Eve Bluebeard wants no contact what so ever with her notorious father, Captain Bluebeard the pirate. As it is her bloodline means no husband as who would marry the offspring of an infamous man whose six wives vanished without a trace. Instead to somewhat avoid her blood, she opens up the Towers asylum for the paranormally disturbed and invents a spouse because a single...

Eve Bluebeard might be the daughter of the infamous pirate, but she wants nothing to do with the high seas, cutlasses, treasure, or rum. She just wants to live a peaceful existence in her home, the Towers, treating paranormal nutcases for various mental maladies while letting her housekeeper, Mrs. Fawlty, take care of domestic things. Of course, her name carries with it a lot of baggage that could incite people to be prejuidiced against her, so she has taken on an imaginary husband, Adam Griffin, who is fortunately out of the country for the foreseeable future. This gives her a different last name, one without perilous associations. This ruse should also keep her father's match-making plans from bearing fruit, forbidden or otherwise. Then, her "husband" comes home. Adam will readily admit to her, at least, that he's a fake, but before long, Eve is starting to think she might have met her match. However, Captain Hook intends to make her a widow.

*** Like Miss Webber's other books, this one is replete with jokes that challenge you to figure out to what they refer. The fun of that alone is enough to reccommend them. The story is also grin worthy, with a spunky heroine who is almost hoisted by her own petard. Deception always gets ladies named Eve into trouble, but this one can look forward to finding that the truth does make her ending happy. ***

4.0 out of 5 stars satirical literary historical romance, July 5, 2007

Eve Bluebeard wants no contact what so ever with her notorious father, Captain Bluebeard the pirate. As it is her bloodline means no husband as who would marry the offspring of an infamous man whose six wives vanished without a trace. Instead to somewhat avoid her blood, she opens up the Towers asylum for the paranormally disturbed and invents a spouse because a single woman cannot run a business without a man.

However, her hope for peace ends when two men arrive at her facility. The first is her estranged father; however the second is worse. Her make believe husband Adam has arrived at her door looking exactly how she described him to others. Confused Eve is attracted to this Adam replica, but has bigger issues than how is he possible as he was a figment of her imagination. A leprechaun keeps ruining the gardens digging for his lost pot of gold, a monster is running loose frightening everyone, and contemporaries are inspecting her asylum even as she thinks of becoming a patient.

Minda Webber's latest satirical literary historical romance is an amusing caper starring a likable reluctant heroine and the hunk who came from her imagination. The story line is fast-paced with witty literary asides and the return of the cast from the previous adventures (see HE REMARKABLE DR. FRANKENSTEIN and THE RELUCTANT MISS VAN HELSING). Although at times the persistent lampooning seems forced overkill, fans will appreciate Ms. Webber's zany saga Eve.

Bluebeard having a daughter, unthinkable but after reading this fun and very enjoyable book highly likely. Eve, Bluebeard's daughter is a Docter who runs a crazy Sanitarium with all kinds of people, of the supernatural kind who have problems. Will not go into total details just wanted to let you guys know that you will enjoy it. I really enjoyed how she played out all the characters and the ending was fantastic. Can't wait to see what her next book will be about. Would like to see her write a sequel to Bustin. Give Minda's books a try, you might just like them.

Once I start one of Minda Webber's books I cannot put them down and this one is no exception. I have read all of her books and highly recommend them with no exception. The "Critics" remarks are very telling, however the artwork on her books and the summaries do not do their content justice. Her style is unique and captivating, I would love to have lived one of her character's lives...never a dull moment!!
