5.0 out of 5 stars inexpensive device that is helpful
I am a speech therapist who works with Home Health. Many of the people I work with cannot afford an expensive hearing aid but their hearing loss has a negative effect on their communication ability with family and friends. I ordered one of these devices thinking if it didn't work, I hadn't invested much money. My patients love it - one man begged me to let him keep it...

1.0 out of 5 stars Reizen Super Ear
This little amplifier is powerful but the sound quality is so tinny and hollow that it is practically useless as a hearing aid.

I ordered one of these devices thinking if it didn't work, I hadn't invested much money. My patients love it - one man begged me to let him keep it! I have ordered two and plan to order more. It is not a customized hearing aid by any stretch but it is useful for amplifying sound. It is definitely worth the money for anyone who has some hearing loss and cannot afford personal hearing aids.

I had bad ears and went deaf for a while so I got the Reizen loud ear. I was able to hear very well, and it looked like I was just playing music. I would recommend this for anyone who has trouble with their hearing.

As a geriatric nurse I encounter numerous patients who are hearing impaired but who will not purchase expensive hearing aids. In order for these patients to hear what their doctor is saying I let them try the Super Ear. It has been extremely helpful. Family members usually want to buy one. The Super Ear is simple to use, inexpensive and durable. The only downside is that a few patients have taken them home and I have to order more.

I bought 3 of these and I glad I did. The amplifiers work wonderful, but the ear pieces are not too good. The rubber ear device keeps coming unattached. I used the 3 ear cords and the last one also broke. I went to Radio Shack and bought a new ear piece for $9.00 and they work great.

5.0 out of 5 stars I think it's a bargain., September 23, 2011

I'm hard of hearing and wear hearing aids. I started experimenting with listening devices, induction loop, and aids set on telecoil. I tried one of these gizmos, and found it performs as well or slightly better than device that costs ten times as much. Very good in the car; good to very good for television across the living room; ok for close talk in noisy environments. Disadvantages--necessary to keep thumb on volume depending om quality of sound the device picks up. Also, shorted out after about eight months--something in switch. Anyway, I'm buying another one. Unobtrusive, easy to carry. I think it's a bargain.

3.0 out of 5 stars hearing aid amplifier, February 18, 2009

the item is very sensitive and does help to hear low volume sounds. If you turn the volume control too high it is contradictory because you get a lot of background noise. On the second day of use it quit on me, and I opened it and found a cold solder joint and repair it myself and it has been working ok since.

1.0 out of 5 stars Static!!, November 8, 2011

I was hoping this item would work. Having the TV on a higher setting is to loud for my roommate. This was a hopeful fix. Sorry to say Static/snow was all I got. Movements were louder than the progam I was attempting to watch. I could hear better without this item. So this is not a fix. I do NOT recommend this item at all.
