4.0 out of 5 stars And You Will Know Us By The Trail Of Dead
Judging from Kyle Piercey's review, you should DEFINITELY go out and buy this band's music...

2.0 out of 5 stars Single or EP?
I believe that there is a mistake with this listing. I think that this is the Relative Ways EP NOT the Relative Ways Single. I'm going by the release dates. The EP was released on November 6, 2001, and the Single was released some time in 2002 according to my research.
Just sayin'. I mistakenly bought it because I thought it was the single and didn't check close...

5.0 out of 5 stars Trail of Dead Continues to Rock Hard, February 26, 2002

You know, The Trail of Dead is definately a band that's not for idiots, like Kyle. Creed and Nickelback? Come on! That is exactly what this band is against and they show it. Their songs are complex dark and melodic, but still have that indie rock feel. The vocals are smart, and they're not a coorporate tool. Screw Fred Durst. Also, if you've ever seen this band live, you'd be a true believer. They bring the house down and you'll also need to watch out for flying instruments. Kyle can't even spell.

5.0 out of 5 stars The most exciting new thing in Rock., January 26, 2002

After i had learned that Trail of Dead had signed with Interscope, i was very afraid. I mean, Madonna is one of my favorite albums, but on Interscope, i was afraid that the artistic vision of Trail of dead would be tarnished, and tracks featuring Fred Durst would soon follow. How wrong i was. This single is phenomenal, and it sticks true to the Trail of Dead creed, but at the same time is going in a new direction. Trail of dead have learned how to turn down their guitars every once and awhile. Don't get me wrong, i love a Perfect Teenhood-esque guitar riot, but most of their strongest songs are slow movers, or songs that experiment with strings and pianos, which have now become heavy staples in Trail of Dead's new music. Anyway, it's fantastic. If you want refreshing new American music, don't look towards the overhyped rich kids, The Strokes(although they are a pretty damn good band, just not Trail of Dead good). Look to the masters of chaos, The Trail of Dead.

HAHA, ...'s review is really funny. Creed and Nickelback...this band sounds nothing like the [stuff] you hear on the radio today...thank god! Fred Durst musical genius? Oh my god shoot me now. Go get this album and while you're at it check out Modest Mouse, Sigur Ros, Mogwai, Tortoise, GYBE, Arab Strap...

I just wanted to comment on what kyle had to say. he undoubtedly doesn't know what good music is. because nickelback and creed are two of the worst bands around, just corporate radio bull***t. trail of dead are far better musicians than anything that plays on the radio period. from source tags & codes to worlds apart, their sound resembles sonic youth, but over all they got their own style and are one of the great punk indie bands, that nothing that plays on the radio can stand up against. so take your fred durst bull***t and compare it with something else, oh and go get yourself a brain.

5.0 out of 5 stars I am now blind, November 14, 2003
Simply put, this is one of the most intelligent bands I have ever heard. The music is so epic in proportion it almost seems like a joke, almost like they had a classical composer orchestrate their songs. Yes, as many people know, this band has some of the worst album covers in the history of music, and they dont even necessarilly fit in with the general sound of the music, but their really good, so we let it slide. It got better with source tags though. So guys, if you read this, whoever designs your previous album covers, kick em to the curb on that subject. Anyways, buy this single, as well as all of their albums.

4.0 out of 5 stars excellent precursor to trail of dead's next offering.., December 27, 2001

its been around 2 years since trail of dead's last offering, their amazing album madonna & you judging by this ep you can just tell the follow-up is going to be something equally as special.. relative ways itself is great, kinda reminiscent of mistakes & regrets & homage is an all out assualt from the get-go. definitely cant wait to hear the new album & watch the band annihilate themselves playing some new material live.. well worth it..

4.0 out of 5 stars Eh.. 3.7 stars, April 21, 2002

Don't get me wrong, "Relative Ways" and "Homage" are awesome songs, but the other two songs drag down the quality of this ep.

"Relative Ways" is a great song, but "Another Morning Stoner" should of been the first single off of the new cd. "Homage" is one of the most chaotic songs TOD have recorded, starting of violently fast, then slowing down for the chorus.

However, the next two songs, "Blood Rites", and "The Blade Runner", are not good. "Blood Rites is a halfway decent song, while "The Blade Runner" is not a song.

So, if you want the first two songs, buy the AMAZING new "Source Tags and Codes", but if you're a completist, go for this.

1.0 out of 5 stars And You Will Know Them by The Trail of Crap, February 10, 2002

Oh man, I first heard of Trail of Dead about a couple months ago.
I had listen to "Madonna" and was very unimpressed with the incredibly annoying whining vocals and bad guitar work.I LOVE pop music and really aggressive punk (the kind where a guy from Vancouver yells in a british accent) but despite what I was told,I had found none of this. But there was hope.I had heard thier next effort would be under Interscope with the holy hand of the musical genius Fred Durst to guide them into some nice catchy guitar riffs. But alas, I was disappointed.Again I had ran into some terrible guitar/piano mixes that just sound like a really obese and ugly boy choking on a hotdog. The vocals are as annoying as ever. The only thing improved about the vocals is that they changed from whiney to monotone. The song writing is terrible, I would rather sit through a Ellen Degeneres stand up routine.Anyway, if you want a good catchy listen crank up some Nickelback or Creed and stay away from Trail of Dead. But dont get me wrong,I had a cheese sandwich the other day and it was good,so is Trail of Dead, but just not cheese sandwich good.
